A woman escaped a fire by jumping from the second floor of a unit complex while her cat was receiving oxygen treatment.

The fire had broken out at the Neutral Bay resort on Sydney’s north shore at around 5am on Friday.

Neighbors who evacuated when alerted by smoke alarms placed the mattress on top of the bins before the women jumped on it.

A pet cat was also rescued from the scene by firefighters who placed it on oxygen before taking it to a veterinary clinic.
