A devastated mother whose nine-year-old son died in the bathtub has revealed that the little boy suffered a medical episode.

Ambulance crews rushed to a house in Banksia Park in east Adelaide on Monday night after nine-year-old Archer was found unconscious in the bathroom after suspected drowning.

A friend of her bereaved mother, Hayley Madigan, started a GoFundMe on Thursday to help her and Archer’s older brother, Harrison, 12, take the time they need to grieve.

She wrote that little Archer had suffered a “medical episode” while in the bathtub.

“As you can imagine, this is any parent’s worst nightmare,” wrote Keely Lyons, a family friend.

“A father can never plan for the loss of a child, and I can’t even imagine the pain he feels.

I’m asking for donations to help this loving mother with funeral expenses, to help renovate her bathroom, and to help her manage expenses for the next few months.

‘I don’t want them to have to worry about anything other than being cured right now.’

Ms Lyons called little Archer a “beautiful” boy and said her family will be “forever shocked” by his tragic death.

Archer is the second child to drown in Adelaide this week following the death of nine-year-old Cyrus Buck at Waikerie Pool on Saturday.
