A Target employee and a 16-year-old boy fell three stories down an elevator shaft after a physical fight at a New York City store.

They broke through the locked elevator doors at the Bronx Target around 11:15 a.m., causing the pair to plummet and land in the elevator, which was below them in the empty shaft.

The boy landed on top of the elevator car, while the 29-year-old security guard employee fell between the car walls and the shaft and then into the shaft below.

He remained trapped there and was taken out of the elevator shaft about an hour later. He is said to be in critical condition, NYPD and FDNY officials said.

The security guard was escorting the teen, believed to be a shoplifter, out of Target when the violent fight took place.

The clerk was leading the 16-year-old boy out of the store when a fight broke out, police said after a preliminary investigation.

When firefighters arrived, they found the boy at the top of the elevator, which was under the open doors, FDNY Deputy Deputy Chief John Sorocco said during a news conference. NY Daily News reported.

FDNY personnel were required to cut power to the elevator before firefighters could descend the shaft and pull the man out using a pulley.

“The first victim was transferred immediately,” Sorocco said.

‘The second victim, it was a more difficult operation. She was under the elevator. We had to secure the elevator and put the brake on,” she added.

Firefighters had to lift the man out of the elevator shaft, which was approximately 15 feet below.

The footage showed dozens of emergency service members rushing to the scene as they transported the victims of the elevator fall to an ambulance.

The Target worker who was trapped in the elevator shaft was pulled out around 12:30 p.m.

The worker appeared conscious as he lay on a spinal board and received medical attention. It was like they took him by ambulance to Lincoln Hospital.

He is believed to be in critical condition.
