Prince Harry suggests royal men ‘marry someone who fits the mould’ instead of choosing love

Prince Harry’s claim that his decision to marry Meghan cut him off from his family because it was “from his heart” and not because she would “fit the mold” is “simply false”, a royal expert has insisted.

The Duke of Sussex made the incendiary comment in the first episode of his new Netflix series.

It was an apparent jab at his male relatives’ choice of wives that has been seen as an attack on his father and other royals, perhaps even his brother William.

But royal biographer Robert Jobson told MailOnline that the claim is “simply not true”.

And the actual editor of the Daily Mail, Rebecca English, said his comments “can only be seen as a hint to his father and brother”.

‘The difference between making decisions with your head or with your heart.

And my mother certainly made most, if not all, of her decisions from her heart. And I am my mother’s son.’

But Jobson insisted: “To say that the King and Prince of Wales do not love their wives and only married them because they fit the mold is simply not true.

I don’t think it was particularly necessary.

The Queen and Prince Philip married for love. Harry is adding one and one and making five.

“His mother and father, Diana and Charles, were trouble. But I think there was love there at the beginning, but unfortunately that marriage was doomed.

“There was affection, but Charles loved someone else.

‘Ultimately, I don’t think what Harry says is true. Edward married for love. Andrew married for love, so I don’t understand what he means.

King Charles’ marriage to Diana came to a bitter end in 1996, four years after they separated.

While still married to Diana, Charles is known to have been romantically involved with Camilla, whom he married in 2005.

Charles’s biographer, Jonathan Dimbleby, recounted that there seemed to have been no “rising of feelings” before the King decided to propose to Diana in 1981.

But the Queen and Prince Philip’s devotion to each other was well known from the moment they married in 1947.

The letters that Prince Philip sent to Her Majesty in 1946 demonstrated this fact.

Writing after his service in World War II, he wrote: Being saved from war and seeing victory, having had a chance to rest and readjust, falling completely and unreservedly in love, makes all personal and even world problems seem small and petty. ‘

And, on their golden wedding anniversary in 1997, the Queen said of her husband: ‘He has simply been my strength and support all these years, and I, and his entire family, and this and many other countries, owe him a greater debt than I would ever claim, or will ever know.’

Prince William and Kate met when they were students at the University of St Andrews in the early 2000s and had a high-profile courtship.

They were first photographed together on a ski vacation in Klosters, Switzerland, in 2004, and looked smitten at their graduation the following year.

In 2007, William and Kate’s relationship hit a brief bump when the couple briefly broke up.

However, they soon rekindled their romance and in October 2010, Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton.

Kate Middleton exchanged vows with William at a Westminster Abbey wedding in April 2011 and it wasn’t long before they started a family together.

Their son, Prince George, was born in July 2013. His sister, Princess Charlotte, was born in May 2015, followed by Prince Louis in April 2018.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex were married on June 9, 1999 at Windsor Castle, five months after their engagement was announced.

The couple first met on Capital Radio in 1987, when Prince Edward was dating a friend of Sophie’s, Hello informed.

They met again at a charity event in 1993 and began dating. The couple were together for six years before their engagement was announced when they were both 34 years old. They celebrated their 23rd anniversary this year.

It is understood that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson first met as children before meeting again thanks to Princess Diana.

Sarah and Diana, who were childhood friends, got back in touch in 1980, and a year later, Sarah was invited to the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Diana.

She reconnected with Prince Andrew in 1985 at an event at Windsor Castle and they began dating.

In less than a year, the Prince had proposed to Sarah, and the couple wed in Westminster Abbey on July 23, 1986.
