Meghan Markle admitted she was a ‘daddy’s girl’ growing up while reciting her childhood poem about divorce in her new Netflix documentary series.

In the second episode of her new £88m Netflix series, the Duchess of Sussex, 41, explained how she lived with her mother Doria Ragland, 66, during the week before spending weekends with her father, Thomas Markle, 78.

Former makeup artist Doria and former cameraman Thomas met on the set of General Hospital and were married in 1979, before separating when Meghan was six.

This prompted the Duchess to write about her experience as the daughter of divorced parents when she was 12 years old and a student at Immaculate Heart School in Los Angeles.

She explained: ‘One of the tasks was to write a poem about your life and I remember this poem to this day.

Reciting it word for word, Meghan began: ‘Two houses, two homes, two kitchens, two phones.

‘Two cars where I lie down, two places where I stay. Moving, moving here and there, from Monday to Friday, I am everywhere.

Meghan’s school poem about divorce:

Two houses, two houses, two kitchens, two telephones.

Two cars where I sleep, two places where I stay.

Moving, moving here and there, from Monday to Friday, I am everywhere.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that bad, but it often makes me sad.

I want to live that nuclear life with a happy father and his loving wife.

A picket fence, a fluffy dog, a fireplace with a burning log.

But it’s not real, it’s just a dream, I can’t cry or even scream.

So here I sit with cat number three, life would be easy if there were two like me.

He then proceeded to share a clip from a 1993 home movie of him going on a fishing trip with his father Thomas Markle.

She added: ‘My dad lived on his own, he had two adult children who had moved out of their house.

“I was a daddy’s girl my whole life and I hung out with him a lot.”

After Thomas was unable to travel from his home in Mexico to Windsor for the couple’s 2018 wedding, the Duchess of Sussex wrote a letter to his father asking him to stop giving press interviews.

The 78-year-old says he never knew his grandchildren Archie, three, and Lili, one.

Elsewhere in the clip, Prince Harry talks about the effect the divorce from Princess Diana and Prince Charles had on him.

He explained: ‘I think most children who are the product of divorced parents have a lot in common, no matter what their background.

Being pushed from one place to another or maybe your parents are competitive, or you are in one place more than you want to be and you are in another less than you want to be.

There are all kinds of pieces in that.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ divorce was finalized in 1996 after being separated for four years.

In the bomb documentary:

The eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, three, appeared in the first three episodes of the couple’s new TV series, which hit the streaming service this morning.

In episode two of the new series, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie was heard making an adorable comment in his American accent.

Prince Harry is seen taking his son for a walk in an area that appears to be near his home in Montecito as he sings. Heigh-Ho from Snow White.

Elsewhere, the boy is seen happily walking down a path with the family’s black Labrador before telling his father, “Archie’s running away!”

It then jumps to a clip of the father and son at their home in Montecito, where Prince Harry is admiring some hummingbirds.

“We will never get to be this close to hummingbirds again,” Prince Harry tells his son. As Meghan films them both, Archie asks: ‘Why?’

Despite asking his toddler to keep quiet and watch the wildlife, the boy exclaims, ‘I have a dirty foot mom because I was with you!’

King Charles and Prince William are ready to issue a “swift and robust” response to any unfair claims in the Harry and Meghan series, but William and his wife Kate are unlikely to see it themselves, sources said.

The senior royals are said to be preparing for the worst and will be prepared to address any unfounded accusations when the new series premieres on the streaming service at 8am.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already made a number of claims in two trailers released by Netflix in recent days, saying they had no Palace protection and accusing attendees of actively leaking and ‘planting’ stories against them as part of of a ‘dirty’ game’.

But the royal family believes that the series will actually wind down in further revelations.

said a source Mirror: ‘There’s a real feeling in the camp that Harry and Meghan are making a lot of noise and there’s not much more to say.

“But preparations are being made for all the results, especially if unfair accusations are made.”

Members of the now-missing family of the Sussexes are also said to be “seething with rage” over the progress of the six-part documentary.

Buckingham and Kensington Palace officials will watch the first three episodes of the series this morning.

But it is understood that the Prince and Princess of Wales will refuse to see the first three episodes of the documentary.

A source also told The Sun that the royals are reluctant to engage in a tit-for-tat battle over the series.

They said: ‘If there are parts that are blatantly wrong, then it is only right that they be corrected.

“The trailers already have some glaring errors and misrepresentations, which doesn’t bode well for the entire series. But the plan is to keep calm and carry on.
