A mother of five has admitted that she regrets not listening to her seven-year-old daughter’s warning that she could go blind if she tattooed her eyeballs, because she is now losing her sight.

Law student Anaya Peterson was inspired by ‘blue-eyed dragon’ Amber Luke, an Australian model who painted her eyeballs blue in 2019, before going temporarily blind for three weeks.

Anaya, 32, from Belfast, was hospitalized for the eye disorder and faces permanent blindness following a suspected reaction to the eyeball ink.

The mother, who also has a broken tongue and facial tattoos, now says she wishes she had done things differently.

The body modification fanatic got her right eyeball tattooed blue in July 2020, and despite dealing with headaches and dry eyes as “part of the healing process,” she decided to dye her left eye purple in December 2020. this year.

After months without complications, Anaya was shocked to wake up in August last year with ‘puffy’ eyelids as if his ‘face had been inflated with air’ and looking as if he had done ‘five rounds with Mike Tyson’.

As the swelling grew worse and worse, Anaya checked herself into the hospital emergency room, after prescribed antibiotics did nothing to reduce the “severe inflammation.”

The tattoo enthusiast was given “drip medication” for three days, before a biopsy was performed on her troublesome eyeball the next day.

Anaya said: ‘I was only going to get one [eye tattoo] at first because I thought that if I go blind, at least I have the other eye. I should have stuck with it.

‘My daughter told me that I didn’t want to do that [the tattoo] asking, ‘what if you go blind?’ She didn’t agree with that at all.

‘Me [top] eyelid started to swell, and my lower eyelid started to swell.

‘It kept getting worse and worse. It looked like he had done ten rounds with Mike Tyson.

‘I took the option of going [to hospital] myself. They operated on me and took samples from my eye.

They wouldn’t have been able to do it while I was awake, it would have been an absolute nightmare, so they put me to sleep.

The mother, who also has a broken tongue and facial tattoos, now says she wishes she had done things differently.

“I just wanted to be home watching [TV] To be honest. I can’t even put it into words. It was not nice at all.

‘It was traumatic to go through that. I just remember thinking, I’m not going to do that shit again, with the eye tattoo. I definitely won’t do that shit again.

Although Anaya emerged from hospital surgery ‘recovering’, the ordeal has left the mother regretting her decision to follow in the footsteps of Australian alternative Amber Luke.

Anaya has been told by ophthalmologists that he is now at very high risk of glaucoma and that his eyesight is already deteriorating, with vision clouded by ‘hundreds of thousands of floaters’.

The student affirms that her university supports her and provides her with applications to facilitate reading, as well as advice.

Anaya still maintains a positive mindset, stating that the negative comments she receives online about her alternative appearance are normal.

Anaya said: ‘I’m a little recovered, on the outside, he’s recovered. It’s right inside. I’m basically on the brink of going blind.

‘I no longer have 20/20 vision. From a distance I cannot see the features of the faces.

‘If I didn’t have my eyes tattooed, I wouldn’t have this problem. Even today I woke up with more floaters in my eyes. And that is dangerous.

‘I can’t get these eye tattoos off. I will always have this problem. So basically I think that as I get older, it’s better to go blind.

‘When I’m 60 or 70, I don’t want to have to go to the ophthalmologist every two or three days.

‘If I could go back in time I would have made a black one [eye tattoo] and leave it. I would have made a black one. Absolutely.

‘I tell my daughter not to worry about other people’s opinions because they are ordinary people like you.

“You have positive comments and negative comments, but the negative comments always outshine the positive ones.”

Influencer Amber Luke has also spoken about the negative impact of her blue-tinted eyes on her everyday life, saying in August that she faces discrimination in public and in the workplace as a result of her alternative appearance.

She said she spent $250,000 on tattoos, piercings and surgery to achieve it, but says people’s comments in public about her aesthetics can often be “distressing.”

“Everybody has their own opinions about what beauty is,” she said. ‘You see these cultures [where people] Stretch their necks, their ears, their lips. But at the end of the day, we’re all entitled to our opinion and that’s okay,” she said.

“But, what bothers me is when someone expresses their opinion to me in public and they come up to me and say, ‘Oh, you’re ugly’ or ‘You ruined yourself.'”

He continued: “It’s very distressing to know that people have such a strong opinion and can just express it without any repercussions.”

Luke has urged people to make informed decisions before embarking on the body-altering procedure: ‘I recommend and strongly suggest that you do a lot of research.

‘Be sure to ask the artists for the botched fee – the procedures gone wrong. Personally, I would also recommend mentally preparing yourself to see a needle go into her eyeball. Anxiety is high as hell.
