Eddie Murphy quizzes daughter’s bumbling fiancé Jonah Hill in teaser for Netflix comedy You People

Eddie Murphy stars as a skeptical father who questions his daughter’s unimpressive fiancé in the trailer for the upcoming Netflix comedy You People.

The 61-year-old comedy legend appeared alongside Jonah Hill, who recently announced that he will no longer be promoting his films, as he asked about his plans to marry his daughter (Lauren London).

Nia Long, 52, also has prime position in the teaser as Eddie’s equally suspicious wife.

Instead of presenting an overview of the film, the first trailer for You People simply featured an excerpt from the awkward first meeting between the 38-year-old Murphy and the Hill.

Jonah, who plays Ezra Cohen, is excited when he meets his fiancée’s father for the first time at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in Los Angeles, which he has chosen as the venue.

‘Nice to meet you guys! What’s going on? Talk to me about life. As they are? How is your job going? he says to her in a manic outburst as Eddie and Nia look at him.

‘So, do you want to marry my daughter?’ Eddie asks, dropping the jokes.

‘So do you hang out in the neighborhood all the time, or do you just come here for our food and wife?’ he asks more confrontationally, while Nia adds, “It’s a valid question.”

Jonah closes his eyes and slowly answers, “It is.”

But things get even worse from there when the suitor begins to weigh in on what his possible son with Eddie’s daughter could be like.

‘If Amir and I had a baby, it would be a very nice baby. Mixed-race people are amazing,’ she cluelessly says, before offering up Mariah Carey, Derek Jeter and ‘the GOAT’.

After Eddie asks who he’s referring to, Jonah clarifies, “Our man, the legend: Malcolm X.”
