Man, 50s, jumps to his death off Mickey and Friends Parking Structure at Disneyland

>

A man died at Disneyland Saturday night after jumping from the Mickey and Friends parking structure.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. and caused the park’s trolley service to be shut down while police responded to the scene. A spokesperson for the Anaheim Fire Department told DailyMail.com that the victim did not attend the theme park before jumping.

Park goers on social media witnessed the body placed under a tarp by police as they returned to their cars from the park. Apparently some bystanders saw the victim fall.

“My daughter just witnessed a man commit suicide today at Disneyland along with other families with children,” one person wrote on Twitter. She is traumatizing.

‘Leaving Disneyland and [cast members] they were everywhere in the park structures diverting visitors and blocking off some areas,’ another park attendee added Saturday. ‘Someone jumped/fell off the Mickey & Friends parking structure and there was a tarp covering the body. Really sad and surreal.

One photo showed a white car hovering over the body with police investigating nearby.

Police have not identified the man’s body and no additional information has been released.

People on social media spoke out about the tragedy, including a devastated tram driver.

“I’m a trolley conductor at Disneyland,” Matthew Beverleh wrote on Twitter. “It was very difficult for us and for everyone tonight. I feel for him and his family… No one deserves to see this, but mental health is a real issue. Please check his family.

Others noted that the victim was going through a mental health crisis and warned people to be aware of their loved ones who might be suicidal.

‘Someone jumped off a structure at Disneyland and died, one person wrote. That is really so horrible. I really hope you are at peace now and don’t feel pain. And I really hope that those who witnessed it get the help they need to navigate such a horrible experience.”

‘[To] the man who committed suicide yesterday at Disneyland,’ another person added. I’m sorry you thought that was the only way out.

‘So sad what happened at the Disneyland parking structure. If you or someone you know needs help, contact the national hotline, dial 988. Ask your friends and family.

Meanwhile, some urged those struggling with suicidal thoughts to seek help.

“After hearing what happened tonight at Disneyland, know that you are loved and cared for,” Landon Ashmore wrote on Twitter. ‘If you ever feel like he’s struggling or lonely, try reaching out to a friend, family member or loved one. Know that you are never alone.

The Disneyland suicide case came more than a week after TikTok star Megha Thakur died unexpectedly at the age of 21 after dealing with suicidal thoughts and a recent anxiety-induced heart attack just four months before her death.

Thakur of Ontario, Canada, passed away in the early morning of November 24.

He recently revealed that he had suffered a heart attack in July, which is believed to have been caused by stress and his constant anxiety.

Thakur began posting on TikTok in 2019 and focused her content on body positivity and self-confidence, but admitted in October 2020 that she had been “down for years” before developing that confidence that people know her for and loves her

“I was depressed for years. It was horrible, I didn’t want to be alive anymore and I almost lost my life,” he revealed in the October 2020 post.

“Too many people choose suicide over getting better because mental health awareness isn’t where it should be.

‘You should look for ways to improve your mental health literacy to help yourself and others, regardless of how much you think you already know.

‘It may be world mental health day, but today won’t be the only day I talk about it. Remember to take care of yourself too. You are important.’

His cause of death has not been disclosed.
