The 29-year-old rapper recorded the show especially for Amazon Music +44 and entertained a star-studded audience including Cat Burns and Gabrielle.

He then sat down with DJ Jazzie B and broadcaster Julie Adenuga for an onstage discussion about his latest record.

Speaking to Louis Theroux about his new interview series, the rapper explained that he was “crying” because he felt “super depressed” while trying to become the best artist.

In an interview to be shown on BBC2, he told Louis: ‘I just felt like I was overwhelmed, that I didn’t think I could handle this.

“I would often pass out and get super depressed or super withdrawn and withdrawn and just disappear — I just stayed home and smoked a lot of weed.”

According to the Mirrorsaid he went through a period where he wasn’t in the “best mind space” as he tried to balance being “the greatest artist” with his family life and trying to be a role model in his community.

“I felt overwhelmed, which was new to me. I was going to break down, it was super tough,” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Stormzy reflected on his painful breakup with his ex-girlfriend Maya Jama.

The rapper admitted to making mistakes during their four-year relationship, but revealed that he’s grown since then.

The couple, who split in 2019, have remained friends despite Stormzy previously admitting she had “no respect” and was “inconsiderate” towards her.

Stormzy further hinted at a mistake he made during his four-year relationship with Maya, adding that he never wanted to feel that way again.

The notoriously private couple dated for four years, but reportedly ended their relationship in 2019 to focus on their careers.

A representative for Maya confirmed the split to MailOnline at the time, with the Radio 1 DJ reportedly already moving out of the rapper’s house.

Maya’s rep told MailOnline, “I can confirm that the relationship has ended and Maya has divorced Stormzy.”

It’s not the first time Stormzy has spoken out about his relationship with Maya, after stating that he still loves her “wholeheartedly” and wants to get married and have kids with his ex-girlfriend in the future.

In 2020, he admitted that he “never loved anyone the way I loved her” in a new YouTube interview with Charlamagne tha God.

“She’s crazy about G, mate,” the grime star said of his ex. ‘I love her dearly. I’ve never loved anyone the way I’ve loved her.’

The radio host asked if he thought the couple could ever reconcile, to which he replied: “I’d like that to happen, but I don’t know…

“I’d love to be the man she needs, I’d love to do all the things that make this work.” I want to marry her, I want to have her children.’

The pair previously dated between 2015 and 2019, and are now said to be giving their romance another go.
