Mom posts an angry note complaining about her parking space to explain why she was so close to the car owner who couldn’t put her baby in the car

  • Bryon Bay’s mother received an angry note after parking in front of a supermarket
  • Handwritten note called mother-of-two an ‘absolute negligent tosspot’
  • She took to Facebook to defend herself, saying she was parked inside the lines
  • The person who wrote the note said they were unable to load their baby into their vehicle

A mother has exposed the driver who left her with a “rude” note accusing her of parking as an “absolutely negligent tosspot.”

Nicole Harvey, a mother of two in Byron Bay, parked her car in the car park outside Ballina Central IGA in northern NSW and found a handwritten note left on her vehicle.

Another furious parent had scribbled an angry message on a piece of brown paper telling Mrs. Harvey to “learn to park between the lines.”

‘Learn to park between the lines. Not on them,” it said. “Couldn’t get the baby in the car because you parked like an absolutely inconsiderate tosspot.”

The person who wrote the note complained that Mrs. Harvey’s car was so close to the line that they couldn’t have opened a door to put their baby in the car.

Ms. Harvey took to a Ballina community group on Facebook to defend the park.

“To the person who just left me this lovely note at Ballina Central IGA. The car parked next to me was on the rails so I had less room to work with – they had to be gone before you came out,” she wrote.

“Maybe park in the parents’ parking lot next time. That’s why they made them. FYI, see the photos, I’m in my parking lines.

Please share around, there are bigger problems in the world. You don’t have to be rude. KINDNESS IS FREE.”

She said she hoped her post would be shared so “this person can learn from this” and said they could have parked farther away if they needed more than one full spot.

Her post quickly went viral and other locals shared their thoughts in the comments.

“Don’t worry about her, just another Karen,” one person commented.

“War in Ukraine, inflation, income inequality… Glad we have Facebook to get to the bottom of the real problem with the world, parking etiquette,” shared a second.

“I don’t even bother to park in a spot if one of the vehicles is right on the line. Because I’m smart enough to make the decision to go elsewhere instead of making it harder for the next person,” a third wrote.

“Sorry, but I’m on Mom’s side. Could you have parked elsewhere?’ said another.

Other local residents said it was a matter for the municipality.

“The parking lots are too small to begin with. It’s ridiculous,” one wrote.

‘Parking spaces are getting smaller and vehicles are getting bigger. Utes and SUVs. The Council should read this,” a third commented.
