Cricket game is stopped… by the SUN! Women’s Big Bash League players are forced to wait for nightfall in comedic scenes as Alyssa Healy’s Sydney Sixers take on the Adelaide Strikers in the final
Things were confusing at North Sydney Oval on Saturday night as play in the Women’s Big Bash League final was halted due to the sun.
Sydney Sixers take on the Adelaide Strikers for the top prize, with the Strikers setting their rivals a target of 148 runs to win the eighth installment of the women’s tournament.
However, as Alyssa Healy’s side went in the hunt for the aggregate, play was briefly interrupted and both sets of players were bizarrely taken off the field.
The officials felt that the low sun was a danger to the players, so they paused the game until it had set.
Deandra Dottin’s 52 not out helped lead Adelaide to a competitive total, with Healy making a lone run before being sacked by Darcie Brown.
The Sixers have already lost four wickets in their first six overs and have a mountain to climb if they want to win the match.
