Jason Cundy claims he would take Mason Mount ‘100 per cent’ over Neymar as the former Chelsea man says the Brazil striker is ‘not a team player’ and ‘won’t do the dirty work’ like the England midfielder
Jason Cundy insists he’d rather have Mason Mount on his team than Neymar as the Brazilian doesn’t do the ‘dirty work’.
Neymar played in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday, but his participation in the rest of the tournament is unclear after he stumbled off with an ankle sprain.
To add insult to injury, Cundy fired shots at the Paris Saint-Germain star, labeling him ‘not a team player’.
Neymar lined up for Brazil in their 2-0 World Cup victory over Serbia on Thursday night
Cundy lashed out at Neymar, insisting he would rather have Chelsea’s Mason Mount on his team
“Neymar doesn’t come close to a team that I want to support, because he is, he’s not a team player,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
When asked if he would rather have Mount on his team than the Brazilian star, Cundy replied: ‘Yes! 100%, I’ll tell you why?’
Neymar will not do what Mount does. Neymar will not do the dirty work. He won’t. If you’re a team player, you don’t get on the team.
Jason Cundy says England’s Mount has more to offer a team than individualistic Neymar
Neymar limped away in tears against Serbia in the second half with a badly sprained ankle
“Can you imagine Neymar being English in that? [Gareth] Southgate squad? Can you imagine the disruption, what it would do, the effect it would have? He’s not part of the gang.”
The talkSPORT host then hinted that his move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 was fueled by a need to escape the shadow of Lionel Messi.
He continued: “Look what he did, he left Barcelona because he couldn’t compete with Messi. He showed up at PSG, Mbappé showed up and he’s not even the best player at PSG.
“It’s about him, it’s more than just his player.”
