Kyle Sandilands has admitted to being “high on marijuana” during his infamous 2013 interview with Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair, where the veteran journalist grilled him about his on-air controversies.

Speaking to Grimshaw on his KIIS FM radio show on Wednesday, the 51-year-old shock jock said he got high before the sit-down because he was so nervous.

‘Can I admit now? I was very high on marijuana during that interview,” he said.

‘I was. I was so stuck.’

Tracy was shocked and asked Kyle, “Why did you do that?” Did you do that especially for the interview?’

‘I was nervous. And you know, I thought, “Oh, she’s not going to like me,” he replied. “I know it’s illegal. And I’m naughty, but whatever… I was in a panic.

“I’ve always looked at you and admired you.”

Tracy couldn’t believe the controversial radio star was nervous about talking to her, admitting she didn’t think she would like him.

‘Gosh, Kyle. That’s such a revelation because I didn’t think anything would make you nervous. I mean, I just don’t have that feeling for you,” she added.

“I’d like to sit down and talk to you about that.”

In 2013, Tracy interviewed Kyle while co-hosting breakfast radio with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on 2DayFM.

“I get why they put the monitors in, but I don’t think it’s necessary,” he replied at the time.

He also admitted that he doesn’t take criticism lightly.

“I’ve read that I’m a misogynist, a misogynist, I always attack women. It’s just not true. I tell everyone everything,’ he said.

Kyle is now a co-host of The Kyle and Jackie O show on KIIS FM

“People like to say ‘he’s a bully, let’s fire him, let’s attack anyone who likes him.’

“I don’t mean to upset anyone, but I might. I don’t want anyone to break down and cry. I hate that. It is never my intention to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Tracy announced her departure from ACA in September after 17 years on the air.
