WAGs are told to dress modestly for World Cup in Qatar

England’s World Cup team partners have been told to dress modestly when out and about in Qatar.

At least three WAGs have turned to personal stylists to ensure they don’t offend the strictly Muslim nation, with low-cut tops and short skirts strictly prohibited.

Instead, the wives and girlfriends will enjoy a night out in linen trouser suits and long dresses, with their arms covered to show respect for the local tradition in Doha.

Personal stylist Connie Jones, 31, from Manchester, helped three WAGs design their wardrobes for the tournament – not just for matches, but for evening gatherings and restaurant visits.

Luke Shaw’s partner Anouska Santos, John Stones’ partner Liv Naylor and Marcus Rashford’s fiancé Lucia Loi all sought help before arriving on Monday for England’s first World Cup match against Iran, MailOnline has been told .

Low cut tops, tight tight shorts and revealing skirts are forbidden.

However, wearing England shirts with their partners’ names – a custom at World Cup matches – has been approved by the people of Doha.

The WAGs have been told to consider wearing a scarf – Gucci and Hermes preferred – around their neck so as not to reveal their figure.

A source told MailOnline: ‘A lot of preparation has gone into the women.

Leaving nothing to chance, Connie researched their travel schedule and desired outfits to suit situations such as visiting restaurants or even when they are at the gym.

‘She is highly trusted and appreciated by the women and has contacts to source the latest fashions and clothes so that the women look their best.

“This World Cup is very different from the last one in Russia four years ago. We are the players wives and girlfriends and were able to show off their bodies and figures in items like jeans and skimpy tops.

“The women know they’re going to be photographed everywhere and they understand it helps them on their social media profiles, so they need to look their best.

“The last thing they want is to offend anyone in Qatar. They have a lot of self respect and want to show the same respect to the people there but enjoy themselves at the same time.

“What we are going to see at this World Cup is a new style of WAG. They’ll look great anywhere.”

Connie has over 50,000 followers on Instagram, including Megan, wife of Jordan Pickford, Sasha Attwood, girlfriend of Jack Grealish, Charlotte, wife of Kieran Trippier, Ashleigh Behan, girlfriend of Kalvin Phillips, and Lauren Fryer, partner of Declan Rice.

The women will be staying in the floating hotel, the brand new £1billion liner MSC World Europe. MailOnline understands that each cabin costs up to £40,000 for the duration.

The source added: “The WAGs are ready and willing to support their men and hope they come home with the World Cup.

“They know that being photographed helps their social media profiles too. Together they have hundreds of thousands of followers. Nothing has been left to chance for this trip.

“But they don’t expect to be able to meet the players because of the Covid rules surrounding the England team. But they will applaud them as loudly as anyone.’
