MAFS 2022: Samantha Moitzi responds to Al Perking on Love Island

Married At First Sight’s Samantha Moitzi says she’s happy to see her former “husband” Al Perkins on screen on Love Island Australia because he’s “better suited” to the show than MAFS.

Speaking to fans on Instagram, the 27-year-old fashion designer suggested that Al wasn’t ready for a serious relationship when he signed up for Married At First Sight.

‘I mean from… I don’t know, maybe not on the first day [of MAFS] but it was clear to me pretty quickly that Al and I wanted very different things,” she said.

“I think Love Island suits him much better, his personality and what he’s looking for. I wish him all the best and I hope he finds what he’s looking for.’

Sam also spoke about the backlash she received from viewers during MAFS where Al was a fan favorite while being blamed for the breakdown of their TV marriage.

‘Everyone said I wouldn’t give him a chance, when I thought… ‘We don’t want the same things!’

“We’re very different people, and I want to settle down, so yes. But I wish him all the best!’

Sam also spoke about the backlash she received from viewers, saying that she and Al never wanted “the same thing” on MAFS because she was looking for a serious relationship.

Sam has since moved on and found love with house flipper Gibson Cleal.

Love Island Australia presenter Sophie Monk recently said that Al was perfect for the reality show about swapping partners.

“I watched him on MAFS and when I saw him I immediately thought, ‘Why isn’t he on Love Island?’ because he never had a girlfriend when he got married,” she told Yahoo.

The blonde beauty has since moved on and found love with house flipper Gibson Cleal

“So I think it’s really good for him. He’s hilarious and he had a really good time. I don’t want to give too much away, but it was great for him.’

She went on to say that the casting decision to get Al on board was “perfect,” revealing that he wasn’t like some of the other reality TV personalities.

“He’s just a really sweet, innocent boy. He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. He sometimes speaks without thinking, and I don’t even know if it will work out sometimes, but he’s hilarious,” she said.
