Ex-NBA player and Syracuse star Donte Greene, 34, is arrested in Indiana for attempted robbery and faces six years in prison after he “told a gas station attendant to empty the register and lunged at him”

Former Syracuse basketball star and journeyman NBA forward Donte Greene has been arrested on attempted robbery charges after he allegedly ordered an Indiana gas station attendant to give him all the cash from the register last week.

The alleged incident occurred Nov. 8 at a Phillips 66 station in the Northern Indiana town of Goshen, about 30 miles east of South Bend, which is home to the University of Notre Dame.

According to the South Bend Tribune, the clerk told Goshen police that Greene told him to “give him all the money” before lunging at the cashier.

Greene ordered the clerk not to call the police, but employees at an adjacent Taco Bell did after they reportedly saw the six-foot-tall former basketball star burst into the gas station.

The 34-year-old had no weapon but was reportedly caught by security as he walked through the store and took off his shirt before lunging at the clerk. Greene is not facing an alcohol-related offense.

If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of one to six years.

Despite this, Greene still became a first round pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, placing 28th overall to the Memphis Grizzlies before being traded to the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings.

But Greene failed to develop and played professionally in Puerto Rico in 2013. He has since played professionally in China, the Dominican Republic, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Taiwan, before landing in the Big 3 league.

Greene was arrested earlier in 2014 for fighting outside a Miami Beach nightclub with then-St. Louis Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar. He was charged with battery use and disorderly conduct.
