Danielle Spencer shares rare insight into family dynamic with ex-husband Russell Crowe

Danielle Spencer has spoken about her unique relationship with ex-husband Russell Crowe and how they co-parent their teenage sons Tennyson and Charles.

The actress and singer, 53, told Daily Mail Australia at the premiere of Russell’s new film Poker Face in Sydney on Tuesday that they are still very good friends and ‘catch up when they can’.

“We catch up when we can. We’re a divided family, so when we can see each other, it’s wonderful,” she explained.

“But I’ve got my life going and he’s got his life going,” she added.

Danielle also revealed that the secret to her ageless beauty is “taking care of herself.”

“It’s what you eat, taking care of your skin and all that stuff,” she explained.

She also revealed that she recently recorded a new album and it will be released next year.

Danielle and Russell, who met in 1989 on the set of the film The Crossing, were married in April 2003 at the actor’s farm in Nana Glen, New South Wales.

They separated in 2012 and finalized their divorce six years later.

In 2015, Russell made international headlines when he told The Sunday Times that he was not ruling out a reconciliation with Danielle.

“I’ve loved Danielle Spencer since 1989 — that’s never going to change — and that’s one of those things where I stare at her and think, ‘How did this fail?’ I still can’t figure it out because my feelings for her have never changed,” Russell said.

But speaking to Sunday Style in April 2015, Danielle shot down suggestions for a reconciliation, saying she prioritized their children and family going forward.

Despite their high-profile split, Danielle previously told Stellar magazine that the former couple see each other as “family.”
