Meghan Markle talks to Jameela Jamil and X-Men star Shohreh Aghdashloo in her Archetypes episode

Meghan Markle today thanked her friend Jameela Jamil for “fighting back” for her after the British actress and influencer claimed the royal family has been “demonised” since she married Prince Harry.
Miss Jamil revealed that the former Suits star privately reaches out to women “in our loneliest and most desperate moments” in the latest Archetypes podcast titled, “The Audacity of the Activist.”
The Duchess of Sussex spoke with British actress and influencer and American-Iranian star of X-Men and 24, Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Meghan and her guests discussed why women’s activism and “big ideas” are “often seen as bold” and used against them to “make them feel small” — at one point, the Duchess claims that women “take no credit and all get blamed.
Jameela tells her, “It’s just an unfathomable amount of money you’re taking Meghan. I can not believe it. And I fought back on your behalf years before I ever met you because I was so indignant at the perversion of this very normal, very kind, very cultured woman. That demonization just shows how scared they are of you.”
She added, “I’m so sorry you had to go through it. I’m confident the tide is turning as so many of us are fighting back,” to which Meghan replied, “Well, thanks for fighting back.”
Jameela describes feeling suicidal after being criticized for her words or actions before revealing that Meghan has contacted her and other women in the public eye.
She said, “You’ve been such a sobering voice, unwaveringly supportive of me. And people don’t know that you often reach out to women who are having a very difficult time. You turn to us. You don’t do it in public. You don’t come to get glory, but you contact us privately in our loneliest and most desperate moments. And we need more of that in the world.”
Miss Jamil also paid tribute to her boyfriend, the musician James Blake, comparing their relationship to the marriage of Meghan and Prince Harry.
She said, ‘He [James Blake] understands me and he is just an incredible human being, an incredible friend and I don’t think I could have gotten through all of this without him.
And I know you have a very similar dynamic with Harry and actually when the four of us met that one time it was a really nice dynamic of two very similar relationships and it was really nice for me to to see. You have it – because you need it’.
Meghan Markle’s latest Archetypes podcast for is about how women activists are often victims of sexism by people who believe, ‘Here she goes again’

Meghan describes her friendship with Miss Jamil, who she has spent together in the UK and US but has not seen in over a year. The pair also discuss “diet culture,” body shaming, and social media trolling.
Opening the podcast, the Duchess of Sussex says she believes “standing for something” equates to “standing for something good,” but adds: “Not everyone sees it that way, especially when it comes to women ‘.
She asks, “Why is it seen as, “how dare she” and why do some feel the need to make a woman with big opinions feel small.
“I started noticing this, almost standard eye roll, when someone mentioned a woman fighting for a cause, and almost, ‘there she goes again,’ or maybe it was more, ‘Why can’t she just sit down”.
“The unspoken annoyance that seems to swirl around women in activism was astonishing to me and I couldn’t quite ignore it. I still can’t.”
Meghan Markle claimed last week that “strong women” are labeled “difficult” because it’s a code word for “b**ch” — saying that while “not everyone will like you, the goal may be that they respect you” .
In her latest Archetypes podcast for Spotify, the Duchess of Sussex said the “B word” is used to “gaslight” women who know what they want.
Meghan also described hating the word “pushy” and admitted to moderating her behavior to avoid being seen as such.
Describing what people mean when they say “b**ch,” Meghan says, “What these people are implying when they use that highly charged word is that this woman is, ‘Oh, she’s tough.’ That’s really just a euphemism or probably not even a euphemism. It’s really a code word for the B word.’
And speaking of the word “difficult” as a way of describing women, she added, “My friend said to me, there’s a certain point when you come to terms with the fact that not everyone is going to like you, the goal can be ‘It’s not that everyone likes you, but the goal can be that they respect you.’
Meghan said friends are “reclaiming” and “embracing” the “B-word” — but she refuses to say it herself on the podcast, calling it the “B-word” anywhere or spelling it out for listeners. She said she would never use it except on a bitch.
She said: ‘I remember when I was a kid and people would say ‘sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you’. Well, that was just an outright lie. Names, of course, hurt. But what happens when we use that pain to fuel a purpose, when the B word is shouted with one intention but you can let it go and remind yourself of all the other words with a ‘B’ that better describe you ? . Beautiful, blessed, brilliant, enchanting, blissful, enchanting. Choose’.
On this week’s episode, Meghan spoke with business leaders and entrepreneurs, including Mellody Hobson, the Starbucks chairwoman who became the first black woman to chair an S&P 500 company. She is married to Star Wars creator George Lucas.
The episode titled ‘To’B’ or not to’B” also stars Victoria Jackson, the makeup mogul and a friend of Meghan’s. Miss Jackson is part of the Sussex family’s “close-knit group of friends” in Montecito, California. She described how she was “raped and stabbed” in the 1970s by the notorious “pillowcase rapist.”
Miss Jackson then built a $1 billion business and then moved into medical research after her daughter was diagnosed with a rare and often fatal eye condition.
