The Challenge celebrities gush over TV’s first ‘non-binary host’ as Brihony Dawson debuts in series
The stars of Channel 10’s new series The Challenge have waved goodbye to the show’s non-binary host Brihony Dawson.
During the show’s premiere episode on Monday, some of the cast – including MasterChef star Conor Curran – were quick to shower the host with compliments.
The blonde star made a big impression when they introduced themselves to the assembled A-listers during the show’s introduction.

“Buenas Noches amigos,” Brihony said, arms outstretched. “Welcome to The Challenge Australia.”
Love Island’s Audrey Kanongara was quick to note, ‘Brihony is an amazing ball of energy’.
While The Bachelor’s Brittany Hockley added, “They look like they won’t take shit” before noticing Brihony’s sense of slick clothes.
“Brihony is Australia’s first non-binary host and to me that’s incredible,” added Conor Curran. ‘But every time I see them I probably hear something I don’t want to hear’

Brihony spoke out about being non-binary and the importance of visibility, during an interview with The Daily Telegraph.
“I really struggled with not having anyone like me in the public eye on TV or in movies or anywhere when I was growing up.”
“While I’m a little scared of being a role model because I’m far from perfect, my goal is to just be my authentic self and be a voice for those who haven’t quite found theirs yet,” she added.

Filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, The Challenge features endurance challenges taken by celebrities.
The series, which first premiered in America in 1998, is a cross between Big Brother and Survivor.
The prize money up for grabs is $200,000.
