Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho still has no place in the Carrington first-team dressing room, despite his breathtaking start in the senior ranks.
Garnacho is enjoying a breakout season under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, where he made his first senior start last month in United’s 3-0 win over FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
But perhaps the 18-year-old’s best moment to date was his EFL Cup win over Aston Villa on Thursday.

Brought in by Ten Hag with half an hour to go and United trailing 2-1, Garnacho contributed two crucial assists, including a spectacular cross to Scott McTominay, to seal a come-from-behind victory.
Despite the growing hype around the teenager, Ten Hag has ensured that Garnacho remains grounded, as the Argentine youth international has not yet conquered a place in the first team dressing room of their training complex in Carrington.
After the victory over Villa, Ten Hag emphasized that Garnacho’s involvement with the first team in the future will be determined by his attitude.
But despite his early success, Garnacho has yet to earn a place in their dressing room at Carrington, with Erik ten Hag (left) adamant that his future involvement will be defined by ‘attitude’
“It depends on his approach, his attitude,” the United manager said. ‘If he continues to work, yes, then that’s possible’ [for him to play more]. He wants to get better every day. He has to do the right things in his lifestyle. He has the ability.’
The news comes after Salford City boss Neil Wood, who coached the youngster during his time as United’s U23 manager, warned that overexposure to the first team at such a young age could be detrimental to Garnacho’s development as a player. .
“I get that fans like to see young players throw in, but I don’t know if it’s best to throw him into the first team.” Wood told The athletic.
“The bar is so high that you can’t expect to turn it on right away at Old Trafford, but the expectations of young players are high. Too early can damage a player’s development.’
