Uruguay has confirmed their 26-man squad with three Premier League stars for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Darwin Nunez, the Liverpool record tally, is one of the star names in a stacked attacking lineup selected by manager Oscar Tabarez.

The former Benfica striker is also joined by two Premier League stars, including Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri.

Pellistri is the surprising name chosen from the Premier League as he has failed to make a single competitive appearance for the Red Devils.

Nunez and Bentancur were always expected to be chosen for the national team and it was no shock to see them both in the roster.

It will not be an easy task for Nunez to secure a starting spot with both Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani selected for their fourth World Cup.

The former stars of Liverpool and Man United have played an important role in the national team over the years.

Cavani, 35, who has scored 58 goals in 133 caps for his country, currently plays in the LaLiga for Valencia, where he has scored four goals this season.

Former Barcelona star Suarez has scored 68 goals for Uruguay in 134 caps and remains an integral part of the roster.

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde is arguably the most prominent player in the roster, given his form for Los Blancos in both the LaLiga and Champions League so far this campaign.

Experienced defender Diego Godin, Atlético Madrid’s Jose Gimenez and Barcelona’s youngster Ronald Araujo, who is currently sidelined with a thigh injury, are some of the other big names.

Arsenal transfer target and Orlando City winger Facundo Torres are also among the attacking options alongside Nunez, Suarez and Cavani.

Uruguay will begin their World Cup campaign against South Korea on Thursday, November 24, before facing Portugal four days later.

They will then face Ghana to complete the group stage.
