Aaron Carter candidly discussed ‘finally getting sobriety right’ in one of his last interviews

Aaron Carter looked forward to a bright and sober future just months before he was found dead in a bathtub this weekend at the age of 34.

The pop star discussed how to become the best version of himself after recently completing rehab in one of his latest never-before-seen interviews.

The August 7 chat took place with KFC chicken heiress Kaila Methven in the pilot episode of her talk show K’LA Afterdark.

Asked about his sobriety after his fourth round of treatment, Aaron replied, “I think I’ve become the real, real authentic version of myself.

“I’ve been to rehab four times and in the end I did well.”

In September, Aaron was back in rehab for the fifth time, despite claiming he hadn’t relapsed, on an outpatient program to address his “triggers.”

The I’m All About You singer, who previously claimed to be bisexual, also ended his personal life in a conversation with Methven about enjoying ‘all naked bodies’.

“I like men, I like women,” he said candidly.

‘I think anyone who is transgender is beautiful. I’ve even dated a transgender woman before.’

The St. Petersburg, Florida native went public with the revelation that he was bisexual in 2017, but later said the comments were “misunderstood.”

‘I see myself being with a woman and having children. I want to have a family,” he said Hollywood life next year.

“It was more of a story that happened when I was 17 with someone, and I can find men and women attractive,” the Saturday Night performer said, “but when it comes down to it, I think it’s kind of misunderstood. ‘

After the K’LA Afterdark interview, lingerie entrepreneur Kaila Methven called Carter “an absolute pleasure to work with.”

“He arrived on set with his fiancée Melanie Martin, and to be honest, he seemed completely sober,” she told the Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday.

“We were doing a 12 hour shoot, Aaron was really super sweet with all the staff, he took pictures with everyone, and to be honest, he’s a really funny guy.

‘Professionally, I have nothing negative to say. I know he’s had a lot of trouble in the past, but it was a completely different person that I interviewed, which is why it’s so important to me to show the world a different aspect of Aaron Carter, and that’s what my show is really about , show people what celebrities really are, not how they are portrayed.”

Aaron and Kaila were in talks to co-host the program, and the hitmaker had plans to write a theme song for the series before his death.

‘Aaron was very sweet, both he and Melanie often invited me to their home. They were a lovely couple, no matter what other stores would say,” she continued.

“They really loved each other and when I spoke to Melanie I could see that she really loved him and that they both really love their son, and it’s really tragic to see someone leave overnight.

“I want the world to remember Aaron in a positive light.”

The hitmaker of I Want Candy was found dead in a bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California, on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Police said Carter drowned but have not worked out how the tragedy happened.

The singer has previously admitted to having a panting addiction.

Huffing, “means inhaling (or ‘huffing’) fumes from everyday household products, such as glue, cleaning agents, or paint — producing a high similar to the effects of alcohol.”

Last month, Aaron’s fans were so concerned about the singer that they called police to ask officers to check on him.

TMZ had reported that the welfare claims came on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 20, after fans feared the star might be taking drugs off-camera while streaming a live chat on social media.

The screen went black during the online conversation and some fans thought they heard spraying and inhaling in the background.

The Fool’s Gold artist, who previously revealed he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder and anxiety, claimed online that he was “the troll hunter” and sprayed what appeared to be air freshener. He explained the actions to TMZ as a joke, saying, “I’m tired of people chasing me, so I trolled everyone.”

The incident happened just days after the troubled singer went online and threatened to sue his on-again, off-again girlfriend Martin, who once accused him of domestic violence but later recanted.

Both Aaron and Melanie have lost custody of their son Prince, who is being cared for by his maternal grandmother.

Aaron claimed he has voluntarily signed up for a month-long outpatient program through Lionrock Recovery so that he can regain custody of the boy.
