The Block’s Josh Packham slams ‘unfair’ final auction result after two properties failed to sell

Popular Block star Josh Packham has criticized this season’s auction result after two couples failed to sell their homes, while Omar and Oz won a record $1.6 million in Sunday night’s heart-pounding final.
Josh, who came in second on the show last year alongside his twin brother Luke, unleashed Nine in a rant on Instagram, claiming that the network was “wrong” with their high minimum prices and that the competition is becoming “unfair”.
“To walk away with nothing, or next to nothing, after giving up three months of your life and working so hard…I couldn’t imagine,” Josh said.

“Big, big condolences to those three couples. Clearly Nine was wrong. They were looking for excessive reserves in this current market. They should have known it was too high for what it is in Gisborne,” he continued.
“If you’re going to spend that much, at least you want privacy, you don’t want to see other houses, so they’re wrong.”
Josh went on to say that the competition “isn’t fair anymore” as it involves designing a home for buyer Danny Wallis, who bought the property from Omar and Oz for an eye-watering $5.66 million.
Danny also donated $4.1 million to Tom and Sarah Jane’s home and a cool $4.249 million to Rachel and Ryan’s.
“He’s very important to the show. He bought three properties during our season, and if he hadn’t bid on them, they could have moved much closer to the reservation, so he did a big favor for our season.”

“But it’s starting to become kind of unfair competition now, because there’s a recipe – it’s very clear that if you want to win The Block, you need Danny Wallis to bid on your house, and you need a very strong underbidder.” .’
“If Danny Wallis wants your house, he’ll keep bidding no matter what: he’ll go for six, seven, eight million if necessary, I guarantee you.”
Josh also wondered why millionaire Adrian Portelli, who was jacking up the prize of winning friends Omar and Oz’s record-breaking property, hadn’t bid on the other houses.
“He offered $5.5 million for that house and then walked away. He could have bought each of the four houses for .
2 million, so a huge question mark as to why,” he said.

Adrian opened the bid on Omar and Oz’s property for $4.5 million, which was much higher than the reserve price of $4.08 million, and his aggressive style meant eventual buyer Danny Wallis ended up with a dazzling $5,666,666 .66 paid for the 10-acre property.

Second in the auction were Rachel and Ryan Carr, who negotiated to sell their home for $4,250,000 – for a profit of $169,000.
Fan favorites Tom and Sarah-Jane came in third but didn’t bring in a lot of money.
There was also heartbreak, with two couples, Ankur and Sharon and Dylan and Jenny, unable to sell their homes at auction.
Both properties were passed on when they failed to attract a bidder above their reserve price of $4.08 million, both with the highest bid of ,075,000.
Both couples continued to negotiate with their highest bidders after filming, but as of Sunday, November 6 at 9 p.
m., Ankur and Sharon, and Dylan and Jenny, are still open to offers to buy their home.
