Lazio defeated AS Roma 1-0 in the Rome derby on Sunday, with a first-half goal from midfielder Felipe Anderson, to move up to third in the Serie A standings.
Lazio forward Pedro took advantage of a mistake by Roma defender Roger Ibanez, who lost the ball in his own area, and the Spaniard put Anderson on goal in the 29th minute with a low cross.
Roma could have equalized four minutes later when Nicolo Zaniolo’s brilliant loft attack flew over helpless Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, but hit the crossbar.

Goalkeeper Rui Patrizio saved Roma from conceding their second goal in the 72nd minute when Anderson struck from the edge of the penalty area, but the Portugal international clawed the ball away.
Lazio rose to third with 27 points, tied with Atalanta in fourth and two behind AC Milan in second. Roma are fifth with 25 points.
José Mourinho’s men will travel to Sassuolo on Wednesday, while Lazio will receive Monza on Thursday.
