Three-code sports great Sonny-Bill Williams reveals he can hang up the gauntlet on a stunning career after a devastating, shocking loss to 48-year-old UFC veteran Mark Hunt.

‘SBW’ went down in the fourth round of his heavyweight fight against Kiwi compatriot Hunt, who used his raw power to technically take out the man many believed would go undefeated.

Williams had the reins in the first three rounds, but it was his opponent who waved goodbye in the last and caught the retired rugby star by surprise.

Hunt, who weighed 157kg just a few weeks ago, stamped his name as the ‘Super Samoan’ by beating Williams in his last career fight.

Although he was 13 cm taller and 20 kg lighter than Hunt, Williams could not contain the strength of his opponents, who managed to get close and take two monster shots.

The 37-year-old says he was ashamed of the result, which could mean an end to his time in the ring.

“At this stage, I’m not even sure I’ll fight again. That could be it for me too,” Williams said.

“I’m 37, I’ve always said that if I get a lot of punishment, that could be it.

If this is the end of my sports career, it’s been a good one … what’s written for me is written for me.”

Hunt says he caught Williams with a strong uppercut to the right that would drop “everyone” given his heavyweight status.
