Freida Pinto Reveals Why She’s Tired Of Talking About Her Breakthrough Role In Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire: ‘It Would Annoy Me’

Freida Pinto became an overnight sensation after her starring role in the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire.

But the 38-year-old admits that for a long time she didn’t like being asked about the Oscar-winning film again and again.

‘It really has an impact, even now. No matter where I go or how many movies I make, it will be Slumdog Millionaire,” she says in this week’s issue. Stellar Magazine.

‘It’s insane. There was a time, I’d say a few years later… when it would annoy me that that’s all anyone would ever talk about. Now I’m celebrating.”

Freida added that she has aspired to take on a variety of roles throughout her career.

‘I don’t want to do the same things over and over. It’s boring. And you end up sleepwalking through that project,” the actress said.

“I haven’t done that in my career so far, because I’m well aware that I can get bored if I’m not challenged.”

Earlier this year, Freida signed on for her next role as Hilary Clinton’s top adviser Huma Abedin in a new TV series.

The Mumbai native has signed on to play 46-year-old Abedin in a TV series adaptation of her November 2021 memoir Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds. Deadline.

The casting may have been teased a few weeks earlier, when both Pinto and Abedin posed together on the red carpet at the premiere of Pinto’s new movie Mr. Malcolm’s List in Los Angeles.

The series will be produced through Pinto’s production company Freebird Films, which has signed a deal with Entertainment One, where the series will be set up.

Pinto will executive produce along with her production partner Emily Verellen and Abedin.

There is no writer or director attached to the project as of yet, and it’s unclear when production can continue.
