On Friday, the Waverley Local Court sentenced the 100th charge of the 33-year-old compulsive liar.

Azzopardi will face up to 17 months behind bars in August for deceiving police by impersonating a French teenager.

At the time, she was also on a Community Correction Order for a similar crime. This order has been revoked given Friday’s sentence.

She contacted the Jewish House religious charity and said her name was Enslie Cohen and had been the victim of abuse. This prompted a five-hour multi-agency search in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to locate the home of her fictional foster family.

While claiming she only spoke French, she refused to speak to a French-speaking police officer.

A savvy case worker recognized elements in this scam that were similar to Azzopardi’s previous stories.

Even after the arrest, she continued to lie and sign the paperwork handed to her by a custody officer by the name of Emily Ramberger.

Retroactively, she will be eligible for parole on January 15 next year.

Her past frauds have included defrauding the Irish and Canadian police into believing she was a victim of human trafficking, acting as a qualified nanny for a Victorian couple, and claiming at a Bendigo mental health clinic that she was a victim of human trafficking. pregnant and abused 14 year old.

She was released by Victorian authorities in May 2021 for fraud and child stealing, only to start another false investigation in NSW in late 2021 while posing as a 14-year-old.

Waverley Police say she has been charged 100 times in Australia, mainly for fraud and deception.

“It is clear that the accused is a compulsive liar and suffers from various mental health problems which are undoubtedly a catalyst for her offense,” a statement of the facts reads.
