A rookie cop stumbled down a suburban street after allegedly colliding his car with a father and son while nearly five times over the alcohol limit.

Traumatized father Rabeh said he thought he was ‘going to die’ after trial officer Krystian Iwauns, 25, hit him in Ashcroft, south west Sydney. on Wednesday afternoon.

The father and his young son were on their way home from school when Iwauns reportedly crashed his Honda sedan into the front of Rabeh’s Hilux ute, knocking the pair into a nearby fence.

Video, filmed by witnesses to the crash, showed Iwauns staggering down the street and appearing unbalanced after getting out of his car.

Witness Troy Stutchbury claimed that the officer, who graduated from the police academy only four months ago, was unaware of what was happening.

“He had no idea what was going on. He just walked in circles,’ he said.

Another witness told 2GB that the accident site was next to two schools, so there were many school children and parents around.

Rabeh said he thought he was “going to die” as the horror crash unfolded.

“I’ve never seen my son so pale,” he said Nine news.

Both Rabeh and his son were not seriously injured in the crash, but were taken to Liverpool Hospital for a preventive check-up.

Investigators later found that the back seat of Iwauns’ car was littered with empty cans and bottles of alcoholic cider, beer and a barrel of wine.

He was then taken back to Liverpool Police Station, where a breath analysis revealed an alleged value of 0.243.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said the South West Metropolitan Region officer’s alleged behavior had made her “seriously concerned”.

“His employment status is being assessed today,” she told 2GB radio on Thursday.

She said she cannot fire people on the spot, but there is “a lower threshold for probation officers.”

“There’s a lawsuit that I have to submit papers to him, he’ll have a chance to respond, but I can start all that and plan to start all of that before the lawsuit comes up.

“I don’t know how you defend it.”

Iwauns will appear in Liverpool court on December 14 on a charge of drink-driving.

If found guilty, he could face a fine of up to $3,3,000 and a loss of his license for 12 months.
