Kevin Durant says he was ‘shocked’ after learning the Brooklyn Nets fired Steve Nash

Brooklyn Nets all-star Kevin Durant told reporters about the moment he learned that former head coach Steve Nash had been fired after Tuesday’s game.

Durant said he was “shocked” to find that Nash was fired after waking up from a nap.

“I woke up from my nap around 1:15 am. Turned right and saw it on ESPN.” said Durant.

‘I was shocked. You know you are always shocked when a move like this happens. But that’s normal in the NBA.”

Brooklyn’s luck didn’t improve after the layoff on Tuesday, as the team still suffered a 108-99 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bulls.

Durant played like his normal prolific self, scoring 32 points, nine rebounds and 6 assists.

Following Nash’s departure, the Nets are yet to provide some insight into their long-term plans with the head coach.

Ime Udoka’s Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of last season’s playoffs

Reports surfaced after the firing that the Nets were eyeing Ime Udoka, as the favorite to be hired as the teams’ next head coach.

Udoka is currently suspended by the Boston Celtics after an investigation found he made “unwanted remarks” to a female Celtics employee with whom he was having an affair.

Any hiring decision by the Nets or any other team regarding Udoka would come after the team conducts a thorough background check on the situation.
