Emma Roberts ‘in talks’ to star opposite Geoffrey Rush in action comedy Verona Spies

Former child star Emma Roberts is reportedly “in talks” to star as “sweet hot mess” Verona in Luminosity Entertainment’s mistaken identity action comedy Verona Spies, which begins production next spring.

Deadline reported Tuesday that the 31-year-old niece of Julia Roberts’ future escort/assassin falls in love with her target, a “charmingly handsome” pharmaceutical executive.

Geoffrey Rush — who’s just a Grammy away from elite EGOT status — has already signed on to play the exec’s Big Pharma boss, who hires hitmen to take them out.

At the helm is Frank Coraci, best known for directing six comedies with Adam Sandler, whom he has been friends with for 38 years.

“If ever there was a more comedic take on the classic, true romance, it’s here,” the 56-year-old filmmaker said in a statement.

“I’m super motivated to make this hilarious and action-packed movie with this amazing cast. Verona Spies is sure to be a fun and unforgettable ride.’
