LIV Golf finally secures major TV deal in the US with Fox ahead of Saudi-backed league’s third season

Fox Sports and LIV Golf have announced that they have signed a multi-year TV deal ahead of the new season.

Beginning in February, all three days of the LIV Golf tournaments will air on Fox, with more than half of the League’s schedule airing on Fox or FS1.

“We are pleased to partner with Fox Sports, one of the leading broadcast networks in the world,” said LIV Golf CEO.

“LIV Golf is getting bigger and bolder, and this relationship heralds the next phase of growth as our League joins the nation’s premier sporting leagues and conferences.

“I want to thank the Fox Sports team for sharing our vision for the future of golf, a new model that redefines the way the sport is experienced.

“LIV Golf attracts a younger, more active and tech-savvy fan base, and as our players and teams prepare for LIV Golf’s biggest season yet, this agreement will take our broadcasting to new heights.”

It comes a day after Scott O’Neil was formally introduced as the new CEO of Saudi-backed LIV Golf.

O’Neil, who took over from Greg Norman, was CEO of Merlin Entertainments, overseeing the operations of more than 140 of the company’s attractions. He was previously CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, which includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

LIV Golf caused major disruption in the golf world when it first launched, luring top players away from the PGA Tour with the promise of huge payouts and a break in the sport.

LIV Golf begins its third season on February 6 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The first American event is April 4-6 at Trump Doral, a week before the Masters.

PGA Tour Enterprises and PIF remain in discussions about the Saudi sovereign wealth fund becoming a minority investor, although it remains unclear how that would affect the two leagues or any path to reuniting golf’s top players.
