The View has been criticized for dressing a child as the infamous “Oscars clap” – complete with a bloody handprint – for a Halloween skit about Will Smith’s attack on Chris Rock.
The kid was dressed in a full gold suit, gold mask and face paint to resemble an Academy Award – and the outfit was completed with a red paint handprint on their faces
Smith caused a furious reaction when he slapped Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, at the Oscars ceremony in March.
Some who watched The View disagreed with the joke, which was part of a segment featuring several children dressed in costumes to reflect current topics of 2022.

One said, “Not a fan of that Oscar floppy costume.”
Another said: ‘The Oscar Slap? Really? (rolling eyes).’
A third person said the joke was “bad taste” and said Ashley Alderfer Kaufman, The View’s wardrobe supervisor, “validated violence” with the costume.
The kids were introduced during Monday’s Halloween special for the ‘BOO! Wearing the ‘segment’, mocking the ‘horror stories and shocking moments’ of 2022.
Kaufman introduced the kid dressed as the Oscars clap, saying: “This year’s Oscars made huge headlines, but it wasn’t about who won, it was about what happened to Best Actor Will Smith, when he went upstairs.” and Chris rock hit .
“Now we don’t want to condone any form of violence, but we couldn’t resist talking about one of the hottest hot topics of the year.
“So we have our interpretation, we have an Oscar image, we call this the Oscars clap. He has a red face paint on the statue.’
Some viewers disagreed with the floppy suit, including one who said it “validated violence”
Another costume during the segment depicted the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate
Another costume depicted the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, with two children dressed as agents and a child dressed as Trump “as a toilet” covered in “top secret” documents.
The costume poked fun at the claim that the former president was trying to flush top secret files down the toilet.
Another costume was based on rising inflation. The boy was carrying a car dealership’s inflatable boat covered in counterfeit $100 bills.

Smith offered Rock a fawning apology, saying he approached the comedian personally
Chris Rock stated he turned down an offer to host the 2023 Oscars show after the blow
The Hollywood actor was banned from the Oscars for 10 years after the blow, but was allowed to keep his Best Actor award, which he took just minutes after attacking the show’s host.
In a statement, the Academy labeled Smiths “unacceptable” and “harmful” behavior that “overshadowed” the entire evening.
‘During our broadcast, we did not adequately address the situation in the room. We’re sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we came up short — unprepared for the unprecedented.
“The Board has resolved that, for a period of 10 years beginning April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith may not attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.
“We want to say a big thank you to Mr. Rock for keeping his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We would also like to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winners for their poise and grace during our broadcast.”
