Snoop Dogg praises LA community for coming together in wake of devastating fires rocking the region
Snoop Dogg is a lifelong Californian, and in the wake of the devastating and deadly fires that ravaged part of the Los Angeles area, he had high praise for the community.
In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday, the soon-to-be grandfather honored his friends and neighbors for their contributions in this time of need.
‘People come together. They don’t look at differences; they’re just trying to make a difference,” he told the studio audience.
The rapper, 53, said he and his family were doing well and was turning his attention to helping friends who had lost everything.
“So we’ve done what we do: we come, we support, we rally our troops, we represent and we give them everything they need,” he said.
California is known for its wildfires, but the blazes burning their way through the Los Angeles area are being called “extreme” because of the way wind gusts of up to 100 miles per hour have driven the flames through the region.

“California, this is our first time dealing with it [wildfires of this proportion]. The way California comes together, the way the world helps us – that’s what matters most,” he said as the audience applauded.

The Riders on the Storm artist said he was approached by a banker “who just wants to help, who just wants to contribute money to people who have lost their homes.” So it’s people from all walks of life making this happen, not just rappers, not just entertainment people, but people in life looking to see how I can help.”
The Billboard Music Award winner revealed that he was monitoring the situation by watching television coverage of the disaster, and at the same time, “I have a lot of people on the ground making things happen. I push the buttons… and make sure the right people get the things they need.”
He explained that his team went to the scene to ensure a direct connection was established with the victims so that no one was left out.
The Let It Roll artist is also collecting donations at his store, Snoop Dogg’s Clothing, in Inglewood, CA.
Kimmel said his show also collected donations in the parking lot of the Hollywood office.
The hitmaker was also asked to put together a sort of ‘We Are The World’ song to raise money. The 1985 song, written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and featuring a host of famous singers to help famine victims in Ethiopia, raised more than $60 million in humanitarian aid.
The rapper has been working with his team to support people who have lost everything in the fires. In addition to seeking funds, he has also asked for donations to his Snoop Dogg’s Clothing Store in Inglewood, CA, for fire victims.
Kimmel also collects essentials at his Hollywood office at 6901 Hawthorn Ave in Hollywood
The pair released a PSA of sorts on social media. “On behalf of the great city of Los Angeles, thank you to our first responders. And thank you to everyone who helped us respond to this terrible tragedy.” they said in turn. ‘Stay strong LA. We are in this together’
“There was talk about concerts to raise money for the victims and the people who lost in this situation,” Snoop said.
“So I think that’s more the angle I would lean towards of doing a concert and not getting paid and taking my proceeds and the proceeds from the tickets and making sure the people get something.”
After the show, Snoop and Kimmel released a Public Service Announcement of sorts saying, “On behalf of the great city of Los Angeles, thank you to our first responders. And thank you to everyone who helped us respond to this terrible tragedy.”
“Stay strong LA,” Kimmel said. “We’re in this together,” Snoop added.
