The Bold and the Beautiful’s fate revealed amid rumors long-running soap will be axed

Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful fear their beloved CBS daytime product is on the chopping block.

The show, which has been on the air for 37 years, is not only one of the longest-running soap operas in the US, but also the most watched series in the world, reaching more than 100 countries.

Despite its success, rumors of its end have been swirling since CBS began heavily promoting its new 2025 soap Beyond The Gates.

To add to the uncertainty, The Bold and the Beautiful only received a one-year extension through 2024, while The Young and the Restless landed a solid three-year deal.

“I thought this was strange because they are both CBS soaps, and every time B&B was renewed it was a normal three to four year contract,” said one fan wrote on Reddit in a post titled “Is B&B canceled for The Gates?”

Another one user has agreed“I was on The Bold and the Beautiful CBS Instagram page… and among the comments, one person noted that B&B is going off the air in August 2025. Are these rumors true??’

For now, The Bold and The Beautiful will remain on the air through the 2024-2025 season, with the option for an additional year.

The growing frenzy on social media comes after CBS canceled The Talk in December, ending its 15-season run.

The network made the official announcement after months of rumors and low ratings in the wake of Sharon Osbourne’s 2021 departure.

“The Talk broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning the daytime talk show to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios representative David Stapf said in a joint statement.

“Over the years, it has been a staple program in CBS’ top-rated lineup as it brings timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions to living rooms around the world.

“It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task, and we extend our sincere thanks to our wonderful hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood. ‘

Despite its legacy, The Talk, which debuted in 2010, was reportedly “the lowest-rated show on the CBS daytime lineup,” according to Term.

During its run, The Talk saw several host changes. Original hosts included Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen Moonves, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Janet Winokur, with Aisha Tyler, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Marie Osmond and Elaine Welteroth later serving as co-hosts.

The show was also recognized with multiple awards, earning a whopping 56 Daytime Emmy nominations and several wins.

The upcoming Beyond The Gates, a soap opera with a predominantly black cast, will take its place.

The series debuts on CBS on February 24 and is set in a wealthy, predominantly black suburb of Washington, DC, one of the most affluent African American counties in the US.

The new soap is the first in the genre since Passions in 1999 and the first to focus on black characters since Generations in 1989.
