America unveils next generation bomber and issues chilling ‘World War III’ warning to China
America has warned China that ‘today is not the day to start World War III’ as the US Air Force unveiled its latest weapon to combat Beijing’s military advances.
The US is ‘accelerating testing’ and its development B-21 Raider, a stealth bomber that can carry out precise long-range strikes anywhere in the world.
The Army placed an initial order for 100 aircraft, and experts expected more B-21 Raiders to enter service shortly thereafter.
America unveiled the new bomber just weeks after the Chinese military unveiled two new warplanes of its own and surrounded Taiwan in an unannounced exercise, the world’s largest naval demonstration since the end of World War II.
Experts warn that by 2027, China is expected to outnumber U.S. forces in areas west of the International Date Line where U.S. forces are deployed.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is also making rapid progress, with US officials warning that the pace of modernization is “unprecedented and far exceeds US efforts.”
“The PLA is the largest and most modern it has ever been. That’s risk. That’s uncertainty,” 412th Test Wing commander Brig. Gen. Doug Wickert warned during a briefing earlier this month. “We’re the smallest and oldest we’ve ever been.”
Wickert, who heads one of the country’s most important air force units, further argued that the US “cannot afford” to take a “step back” before unveiling the new strategy. B-21 Raider and issues its grim warning to Beijing.
“Today is not the day to start World War III, because we have this,” he said, pointing to a large projection of the bomber.

Edwards Air Force Base is currently “accelerating” testing of the B-21 bomber and “delivering integrated capability to the warfighter,” Wickert revealed.
“This is one of many, many things you’re working on here that will change [PLA] Chairman Xi Jinping’s calculation about our readiness,” he said.
The PLA is preparing for conflict, US officials said, citing how the Chinese military in December carried out mock airstrikes on shipping in Taiwanese waters and formed a two-deep naval blockade to restrict sea and air access from the west.
Beijing’s new super long-range fighter jet also appeared to make its maiden voyage on December 26 last year. The new aircraft was spotted next to a Chengdu J-20, the current generation of fighter jets.
The plane was seen flying its landing gear open, a standard practice during early testing phases, from the airfield of the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, which develops Chinese drones and fighter jets.
There is speculation that China’s new fighter jet has the ability to flie on the edge of space and is designed to attack U.S. aircraft and early warning tankers that previously could not be reachedaccording to defense news and analysis website The War Zone .

An undated photo released by the US Air Force in May 2024 shows a B-21 Raider conducting ground testing, taxiing and flight operations at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
In addition to testing its new plane, Wickert says Beijing has also built a full-scale replica of Taiwan’s Taichung International Airport in the Gobi Desert, complete with runways, taxiways and parking lots.
Nearby, the PLA has created a life-size sketch of a U.S. Navy USS Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier and has models of U.S. destroyers “dodging through the desert on rails.”
“Do you think we know what they’re doing and what they’re planning?” Wickert said. “Based on what you know now, can you update your assessment of the risk to the world and indicate the importance of our mission?
“And that’s why what we’re doing here at Edwards Air Force Base is so important, because we’re developing and modernizing and doing those things that will change Chairman Xi’s calculus.”
He added: “We cannot afford to have to take a step back because we have had an accident. Our mission is too important.”
Wickert also highlighted the threat of Chinese cyber espionage, noting how at least “at least a dozen telecom companies” have admitted that their critical infrastructure had been “infected” by Beijing malware, leaving the US and its Western allies vulnerable.
“The CCP now knows who my government phone has been talking to for the past four years, and they are still there and we cannot get them out,” he said. ‘That is uncertainty. That’s risk. And it makes for a very, very dangerous world right now.”
The Chinese plane appeared in social media posts last month, revealing a large three-engine fighter with a cockpit and diamond-like wing without vertical tails – which could help the plane avoid being detected on radars

The B-21 is expected to become the backbone of Global Strike Command’s bomber fleet, gradually replacing the B-1 Lancer and B-2 Spirit.
It is a long-range, highly survivable and penetrating stealth bomber that will play an important role in supporting national security objectives and assisting U.S. allies and partners around the world.
The weapon system – each one is expected to cost $750 million – is being manufactured under the Air Force’s contract with Northrop Grumman. The B-21 Raider weighs approximately 30,000 pounds, has a wingspan of 50 meters and can reach a maximum speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour.
It is touted to be virtually ‘invisible’ to all enemy stealth radars and will be equipped with the latest features in military technology.
“It is designed with an open systems architecture, allowing for the rapid introduction of mature technologies and allowing the aircraft to remain effective as threats evolve over time,” the U.S. Air Force said.

Wickert, photographed in front of a projection of a Chinese warplane on January 6 this year, warned that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is also making rapid progress and that its pace of modernization is “unprecedented and far exceeds U.S. efforts.”
The B-21 Raider is a nuclear-capable aircraft and the first of its kind to be introduced since the end of the Cold War. In the long term, the Air Force hopes to have at least 220 to replace the old B-1 and B-2 bombers.
The service previously estimated that the program will likely cost at least $203 billion over 30 years to develop, acquire and maintain the B-21 fleet.
The B-21 is part of the Pentagon’s efforts to modernize all three pillars of its nuclear triad, which also includes silo-launched nuclear ballistic missiles and submarine-launched nuclear warheads, as it shifts from the counterterrorism campaigns of recent decades to the fast Chinese army. modernization.
