FPL: First double game of the season confirmed – as Premier League reveal new date for Everton’s postponed clash with Liverpool at Goodison Park
- The postponed Merseyside derby has been moved to February 12
- Gameweek 24 is now the first double of the Fantasy Premier League season
The first double gameweek of the 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season has been revealed.
The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool, which was postponed on December 7 due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh, will now be played at Goodison Park on February 12, ahead of the reverse fixture at Anfield in early April.
The Premier League’s announcement on Monday confirms that Gameweek 24 will be the first double of the FPL season, providing a perfect opportunity for players to use their Triple Captain, Bench Boost or Assistant Manager chip.
Liverpool face both Bournemouth and Everton that week, while the Toffees take on Leicester and their Merseyside rivals at Goodison Park.
Those yet to activate their Triple Captain chip have now been given a golden opportunity to use it against in-form Reds superstar Mohamed Salah that matchweek, and perhaps triple Liverpool’s roster by tackling the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold recruiting. Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz or Virgil van Dijk.
Meanwhile, Everton could be worth a serious look now that David Moyes is at the helm as they now have two home games to play during Gameweek 24.

It could be a possibility to play the brand new Assistant Manager chip on Arne Slot
It could also be an opportunity to play the brand new Assistant Manager chip, which was introduced to the game last month after FPL chiefs revealed the ‘mystery’.
This new chip allows players to add a manager to their team to score points over a period of three game weeks. Points are awarded for wins, draws, goals and clean sheets.
Managers will have set the cost for the game at between £0.5 million and £1.5 million and prices will not fluctuate throughout the season. The costs must be paid from your existing FPL budget.
There is also a table bonus mechanism: if your manager faces a club at least five places higher in the Premier League, you get extra points for a win or a draw.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot comes into the game on £1.5m, while Moyes earns just £0.5m after Everton’s poor start to the season.
