LG’s 55-inch B3 OLED TV is great for gaming and costs just $798 at Walmart

Finding a good 55-inch OLED TV for under $800 is terribly rare, but a killer deal we saw at Walmart in December has made a comeback, easily beating every TV deal we’ve seen since. The LG B3 OLED 4K TV retails for $798 (was $1,199) at Walmart, and will likely sell out quickly at that price.

Despite being a 2023 model, the B3 is a great TV to buy if you’re into gaming; it features a 120Hz refresh rate, with support for variable refresh rate to ensure gameplay looks smooth even when the frame rate drops, and its two HDMI 2.1 ports allow your gaming PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X games take full advantage of that refresh rate while displaying at 4K resolution. It has four HDMI ports in total, but only two of them are high-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports. While HDMI 2.2 was the talk of the town at CES 2025, this model’s HDMI 2.1 support is on par with even the latest premium TVs from 2025, so the specs will be a great fit for current and future consoles.

But the B3’s picture quality makes it an excellent choice for watching anything, including movies and TV shows. Whether you’re watching sitcoms or moody movies with lots of dark scenes and bold use of lighting, the OLED shines because each model has per-pixel color and brightness control. If part of a scene is supposed to be black, it will be pure black, not the grayish attempt at black that cheaper TVs often show as a result of relying on less precise dimming zones.

I visit often RTINGS.com for the in-depth testing on displays, especially before I make a purchasing decision, and it says that the newer B4 model, while offering very similar features, may get brighter than the model being discounted today, and that it has four HDMI 2.1 ports as opposed to two in the B3. As for how the prices compare, you can get a 48-inch B4 OLED now at Best Buy for $699.99, a good price. But if you ask me, paying $100 more for a bigger TV is an even better deal.
