Four people die in horror crash on Leach Highway in Cloverdale, Perth

Four people have died early this morning after a horrific crash involving a taxi and an all-terrain vehicle on a major Perth highway.

Emergency services rushed to Leach Highway, near Perth Airport, at around 3.40am on Monday after reports of a head-on collision in which a vehicle burst into flames.

Police said the Toyota RAV4 was traveling on the wrong side of the highway when it collided with the taxi traveling southwest away from the Tonkin Highway and Airport Drive interchange.

The driver of a Toyota RAV4 and the 58-year-old man driving a taxi died at the scene.

Two female passengers in the back seat of the taxi, aged 56 and 81, were also killed.

Shocking footage of the crash was shared on social media, showing one car bursting into flames and destroying the other vehicle.

The highway is closed in both directions between Tonkin Highway and Orrong Road and is expected to remain closed while Major Crash officers investigate.

Major crash investigators are at the scene and have urged anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
