The $8 sentimental must-have parents are snapping up from Kmart: ‘I wish I had one earlier’

Parents have discovered the perfect back-to-school purchase as they prepare for the first semester of 2025.

Kmart’s new School Years Photo Frame is being sold nationwide and has been dubbed the ‘ultimate sentimental purchase’ this month.

Designed to hold photos from each school year, it is a perfect keepsake for capturing a child’s academic journey and milestones.

There are 12 boxes for years one through twelve and a larger area in the middle to display their most recent or favorite photo.

At 27.9cm x 22.7cm it’s a decent size and made from medium density fibreboard; comparable versions on the market will cost you as much as $200.

It’s one of several purchases at the department store that have skyrocketed in popularity this month, with a waiting list already forming for the $59 pack of 168 graphic markers.

The markers are especially popular with graphic designers, artists and creatives because they are a ‘dupe’ of Copic Sketch Markers, which cost up to $664 for a pack of 72 at Officeworks.

However, many pointed out the key feature that the Kmart version lacks: the expensive markers come with a brush tip for mixing colors, while the budget-friendly pens have a chisel tip on one end and a bullet tip on the other.

Despite the differences, consumers said the cheaper pens were a great, affordable alternative, especially for those who can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars.

What makes the set stand out are the 168 different colored markers, all perfectly stored in a black zippered bag.

Only a lucky few have been able to track down the sought-after markings.

‘Kmart is running out more and more. I’ve been on the waiting list for this 168 pack for so long and they’re finally restocked,” said one customer as she opened her online order.

When she unzipped the bag to reveal the 168 colored pens, she said excitedly, “Oh my goodness… That’s beautiful. Wow cool.

She was particularly impressed with the bag’s built-in stand, which kept all the pens perfectly organized and upright.

“It has a stand that holds them together, which is amazing,” she said, explaining how other brands end up in a case where they all “move.”

‘It comes with a handy strap. This business is fantastic.’

‘I bought them and they are actually very good. To be honest, I wish the tip was a brush, but that’s fine,” one person said.

‘These markers are great. They lay so flat and smooth. The colors are vibrant. Definitely worth it for the price,” another shared.

‘This set has all the colors you could wish for. They are of good quality and last a long time. This large set is good value for money compared to others I have seen and used,” one person enthused.
