The unexpected $59 item Kmart Australia can barely keep on shelves: ‘I’ve been on the waitlist for so long’

An unexpected $59 item from Kmart Australia is flying off the shelves, with a waiting list of shoppers eager to get their hands on it.

The 168-count graphic markers always sell out, leading many to sign up for ‘stock alerts’ so they are alerted when the item returns to stores or online.

The markers are particularly popular with graphic designers, artists and creatives as they believe they are a ‘dupe’ of Copic Sketch Markers, which cost up to $664 for a pack of 72 at Officeworks.

However, many pointed out the key feature that the Kmart version lacks: the expensive markers come with a brush tip for mixing colors, while the budget-friendly pens have a chisel tip on one end and a bullet tip on the other.

Despite the differences, consumers said the cheaper pens were a great, affordable alternative, especially for those who can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars.

What makes the $59 set stand out are the 168 different colored markers, all neatly stored in a black zippered pouch.

Only a lucky few have been able to track down the sought-after markings.

‘Kmart is running out more and more. I’ve been on the waiting list for this 168 pack for so long and they’re finally restocked,” said one customer as she opened her online order.

When she unzipped the bag to reveal the 168 colored pens, she said excitedly, “Oh my goodness… That’s beautiful. Wow cool.

She was particularly impressed with the bag’s built-in stand, which kept all the pens perfectly organized and upright.

“It has a stand that holds them together, which is amazing,” she said, explaining how other brands end up in a case where they all “move.”

‘It comes with a handy strap. This business is fantastic.’

Kmart shoppers have given the markers five-star reviews, with the product having a near-perfect 4.7 out of 5 rating.

‘I bought them and they are actually very good. To be honest, I wish the tip was a brush, but that’s fine,” one person said.

‘These markers are great. They lay so flat and smooth. The colors are vibrant. Definitely worth it for the price,” another shared.

‘This set has all the colors you could wish for. They are of good quality and last a long time. This large set is good value for money compared to others I have seen and used,” one person enthused.
