Ben Brereton-Diaz will only consider a move to Sheffield United if he leaves Southampton this window.
Other clubs are in for the Chilean international striker, but he is happy to stay and finish the season at Southampton if a move to Bramall Lane falls through.
The 25-year-old knows United well having played there before – he enjoyed a successful spell in which he scored six goals in 14 games last year – and is open to working with Chris Wilder in the short term as they bid for promotion of the championship.
Brereton-Diaz and his partner are also expecting a baby, so he doesn’t want to disrupt his family life.
He wants fame and stability so he knows Sheffield United can provide that when he leaves the South Coast.
Otherwise, he is more than happy to stay, see out the season at Southampton and then assess his options in the summer.

Chris Wilder’s side are bidding for promotion to the Premier League at the first opportunity
Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers are among the other sides showing interest in the striker who signed a four-year deal when he returned to England last summer after a spell with Villarreal in La Liga.
Brereton-Diaz has not scored in any of his 13 appearances for the Saints so far this season.
Sheffield United are third in the Championship and just one point ahead of leaders Leeds as the Yorkshire club chase promotion back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.
Ivan Juric’s Southampton is already struggling with relegation and remains at the bottom of the Premier League with six points.
