Dave Portnoy leads Justin Herbert backlash after Chargers’ embarrassing loss to Texans in Wild Card showdown

Dave Portnoy was furious with Justin Herbert’s quarterback skills after an embarrassing performance in the Chargers’ Wild Card loss to Houston on Saturday night.

After being favored to win at H Town, Herbert threw four interceptions, leading the Texans to a 32–12 win, eliminating the Chargers.

In addition to the interceptions, Herbert was sacked four times, which led to Portnoy recording and posting an angry tirade at X.

“I’m so sick of Justin Herbert and people sucking his dick,” the Barstool Sports chief exclaimed. “It sounds like this kid is a young quarterback.”

“Go back to everything I said, he sucks. I don’t care what tools he has. What is the crush on this damn guy? He was bad in Oregon, the team got worse,” he continued.

“He would be the No. 1 draft pick [and] fell because people were looking at him and [said]“Hey, this guy can be fucking bad.”

Portnoy then slammed Herbert and his team for squandering their early lead when they folded under Houston’s defense.

‘You know what’s stupid? Running when it’s six-nothing… You dominate the play, you get a plus-40 turnover, you scramble 20 yards, stop, you throw 40 yards down over your body and opt for double coverage.”

“Let the Texans get off the mat, not that it mattered because you’re rolling sixes every five seconds,” Portnoy added.

“But at some point the media has to stop blowing Justin Herbert, I’m tired of it. He stinks,” he continued.

Although his frustrations and disbelief were made clear, Portnoy admitted to betting on the Chargers’ victory, which may have contributed to his disappointed reaction.

“Yeah, I’m betting a lot on the Chargers today,” Portnoy admitted. “Shame on me, because I also have the Texans to win the Super Bowl, so I’m a loser-loser.

“Hahaha, make fun of me for betting on Justin Herbert. He’s soft. So what if he has good hair? He has bad skin. I don’t like him.’

LA’s campaign ended after they finished second in the AFC West in an 11-6 season.

In his fifth NFL season, Herbert completed 332 of 504 passes for 3,870 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was sacked 41 times, the most in his career.
