At least something like that, or help the neighbors.’
Quaid shared that on Tuesday he “just woke up to a big plume of smoke and it was a very exciting day as far as up here and the Palisades went, and on Wednesday it just came within 500 feet of the house, and these guys came with their planes down and put that retardant there.”
He added: ‘And those helicopter pilots are incredible at what they do. And I can’t say enough about the firefighters and first responders in this city.”
Quaid, who lives with his wife Laura Savoie, 34, said: “We were lucky. I have so many friends who are lost. My agent, he lost both his houses.”
He noted that “another good friend in the Palisades had just moved into one house and was renting the other and he lost them both. We are fighting as hard as we can to save our city. Gosh, I never thought I’d say that.’
The historical crisis had been “a very big lesson” for Quaid, illustrating to him that “our experience of reality can change in the blink of an eye.”

She flew to the West African country’s presidential inauguration on Tuesday after meteorologists warned a “recipe for fire” was brewing to hit LA.
Dozens of A-listers have taken to their social media to shame the LA mayor’s response to the infernos that have been spreading since Tuesday.
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, he said, “It’s an inherent problem in California.”
‘[There is] no water in the Palisades… infrastructure has been a big problem here – and where we should spend the money… I have a difference with that.
“The mayor coming back, I’m sure she got on the first plane that came back, but once she got here she had nothing more to say… you have to run around here.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram to express her outrage, writing: “In the city of LA you want everyone to evacuate, but there is complete gridlock and there is not a single traffic officer on the road to help.”
Meanwhile, other outraged celebrities have criticized the mayor’s actions, joining the actress Sara Foster write on X:

“We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown and the undergrowth had not been cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish. Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor. But thank goodness drug addicts get their drug kits. RESIGN. Your far left policies have ruined our state. And also our party.’
Former professional dancer from Dancing with the Stars Valentin Chmerkovskiy also expressed his dissatisfaction on social media.
‘5th largest economy in the world. Firefighters didn’t have enough water pressure to do their job?! Are you kidding me?! The taxes we pay for infrastructure in the developing world are unbelievable?! Come on.
Actor James Woods also criticized the mayor, blaming her and California Governor Gavin Newsom for the fire.
“This fire is not the result of ‘climate change,’ you ignorant bastard. It’s because liberal idiots like you elect liberal idiots like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. One doesn’t understand fire management and the other can’t fill the water tanks,” he wrote.
Earlier this week, Woods believed his own home had been destroyed by the fires, although it later emerged the house had been spared.
Bass finally returned home Wednesday to inspect the damage with fellow Democrat and California Governor Gavin Newsom
“To the thousands of families affected by this horrific fire, the City of Los Angeles is providing resources and shelter as this emergency continues. To the hundreds of brave firefighters and first responders who responded to this fire all day, we thank you. The city is working aggressively to address this emergency,” she said in a statement.
