Flight attendant reveals what NOT to drink on a plane

A flight attendant has thought about what to avoid during flight – and some safe solutions.

Kat Kamalani, a digital creator and ex-flight attendant, told her followers what she would never consume on a plane.

“Never consume liquids that are not in a can or bottle,” the mother of two stated in a post Instagram role.

She added that the reason behind her staunch stand against water tanks was that they are rarely cleaned.

“They’re disgusting,” she declared.

“Talk to a flight attendant – we rarely drink the coffee or tea that comes from the same water tank,” she noted.

She continued: ‘When you drink that coffee and tea, it comes from hot water and it is absolutely disgusting.’

She then pointed to a photo of the coffee machines on the plane and claimed that they are “rarely cleaned” unless they are broken.

Kat assured viewers that the actual jars are removed from the machine between flights, but the entire machine is never properly cleaned.

“And they’re near the toilets,” she announced.

The mother then shared a handy trick for parents who want to make a bottle for their baby during the flight.

“So tip for all parents: never ask for hot water and put it in your baby’s bottle,” the mother said.

‘Ask for bottled water and warm water in a cup, then make a bottle for your baby with the bottled water and put it in the cup and warm it.’

Users were divided on the advice; many claim they are also flight attendants and have no qualms about drinking the water on board.

‘I’m a flight attendant. American airline. This nonsense has been going on for years. And I’ve been drinking coffee and tea on planes for years, I’ve never been sick from it,” one person commented.

‘NOT TRUE! Flight attendants always drink the coffee! I’ve been flying since 1985 and one of the first things we do is make coffee! Rumor has it it’s the same tank as the lavs!!!!’ added another.

“Those water tanks meet federal standards. Can you also tell me how often you clean the water pipes in your house?’ someone else asked.

“I bring my own water bottle and that’s all I drink on the plane,” one person said.

Last year, a flight attendant from the US, who worked as a cabin crew for several airlines for several years, shared some of her observations and pro tips with DailyMail.com.

She says the hot water pots are rarely “thoroughly cleaned” and can be a breeding ground for germs.

Instead, she recommends drinking cold drinks during the flight or filling a bottle with a hot drink from an airport vendor before boarding.
