Adorable boy, 5, miraculously survives falling out of 4th-floor window in freak accident
A five-year-old boy suffered a punctured lung and a bruised liver after falling from a window in Miami.
Dontavis J. Ponder was watching TV with his grandmother in their apartment in a building at 1245 Northwest Street.
According to aunt Geleen Gonzalez, the child was in another room when he fell.
“I think he wanted to look out the window to see what was going on or whatever, I don’t know, and I think he pushed himself a little too far into the screen of the window and it’s probably jumped out and that’s at the At the same time he fell out,” Gonzalez told NBC.
Ponder was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition for treatment by responding firefighters.
Although he has not broken any bones, he remains intubated and sedated in the Center’s intensive care unit.
Ponder’s grandmother later noted that she had not heard the fall and had no idea what had happened, Gonzalez revealed.
“She didn’t know what was going on until she heard the rescue ambulance and police sirens,” the aunt said.

Despite the severity of the situation, the toddler’s family remains grateful his injuries are not worse.
This comes less than a year after a toddler tragically died after falling from a hotel window in South Dakota.
Madden Hein, 1, fell from a third-floor window of the Club House Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls around 9 a.m. on April 13, according to police.
The Minnesota boy was staying at the hotel with his parents and was taken to a local hospital after the fall.
Kathryn Hein, the boy’s devastated mother, announced Tuesdayhat her ‘sweet boy’ had died and shared a photo on Facebook of her and her husband Alex holding his hand in the hospital.
“It is with a heavy heart to say that our sweet baby boy Madden gained his angel wings late on April 15th,” she wrote.
‘We miss him enormously and are having a hard time processing all of this.’
