Mark Owen’s wife furiously hits back at claims that LA wildfires are a celebrity crisis as she exclaims ‘I don’t give a s**t about my house’

Mark Owen’s wife Emma has reacted furiously to claims that the LA bushfires have been portrayed as a celebrity crisis as she shared an update.

The Take That star and his family have been forced to flee their LA home after the bushfire spread through the upscale enclave of Pacific Palisades on Tuesday.

And on Thursday evening on Instagram, Emma released an update urging people to recognize that the majority of people affected are not celebrities, but instead normal people who have lost absolutely everything.

In an impassioned speech she exclaimed: ‘I don’t care about my house, I just want Joyce [her neighbour] be okay.

‘I have everything I want. I have my children, my husband and my animals. The rest doesn’t interest me. Take it.

“I just want Joyce and all the other people who stayed to fight for everything they have so they can be okay.”

Admitting she didn’t want to cause offence, she continued: ‘I hate that this has been publicized as ‘celebrity houses’ and ‘most expensive houses’ and ‘town flares with tinsel’.

‘No. That’s about 5% of California. California’s most important base is its workers. They are the real belly of LA and they are the people who have nothing left.

‘They have no insurance and nowhere to escape, rescue shelters are overrun. I don’t want you to think, ‘Oh, it’s LA, they’re all rich, it’s all going to be fine.’ No, there are thousands of people who are not doing well.’

Emma added: ‘I don’t want everyone to attack me or word this the wrong way. I hope I don’t offend anyone, but I just want you to know that I don’t like the way it’s presented.

‘This isn’t just about rich and famous celebs. Who gives *****gs**t? It’s about real people.’

She explained that she was shocked, adding: “I can’t think of the words because I’m in shock and I’m afraid I’m putting it wrong, but you know what I mean.”

After evacuating their home on Tuesday, Emma, who shares three children with Mark, explained that her family split up as they tried to find a place to house all their animals.

However, she shared the happy news that she is hopeful they will all reunite under the same roof on Friday. She said: ‘I feel guilty too. We are incredibly lucky and incredibly grateful.”

Emma and her family were evacuated on Tuesday after waking up to ‘helicopters, thick black smoke and howling winds’.

Emma took to Instagram earlier today on Thursday and recorded a clip informing her followers and letting her friends and family know that she is safe.

In the video she said: ‘I’m so tired, I don’t think anyone in LA is sleeping right now. I’ll come back here again, we’ve had so many messages from people just wanting to check up on us – friends and family back home, and there are so many messages.

‘They are so beautiful, we just don’t have the energy or time to send details individually. Just to let you know we are safe, we are still safe, myself and the two girls are in a hotel with the two smaller dogs and the hamsters.

‘Mark is in his music studio with the two bigger dogs and the cats, we have so many animals.’

She continued emotionally, “We have managed to get the horse to safety, although the horse may need to be rescued again because the place they moved to is now threatened.”

“Elwood and his girlfriend were at his girlfriend’s house and they were evacuated, so they are now with other friends. I can’t wait for my family to be together again.’

Emma added that she “feels so blessed that they are all safe” as many people have “lost everything.”

Although she admits their fight is not over as their home is “threatened again” and “none of the fires are under control.”

She told her followers: ‘They’re all still raging so that’s the most tiring thing, constantly checking online to see if your house is gone. Then we started receiving threats from looters. Can you believe people are looting right now? What’s wrong with humanity?’

Before signing off and thanking everyone for their support, she admitted, “I’m trying to stay in this moment because if I go to tomorrow or the long term, I’m going to break down.”

In a post on Wednesday, Emma shared a clip of the ongoing devastation as she and her family drove away from the fires.

Emma wrote in the caption: ‘Thanks for all your messages and checking in. I can’t quite understand what happened here, but we are safe.

‘Due to hurricane force and the lack of water, the fire spread catastrophically quickly and took away a large part of our beloved area. Schools, houses, shops and stables have all disappeared.

‘We woke up to helicopters, thick black smoke, howling winds and the uncertainty that our house would survive.

‘I wish I had packed better. Even if I had just grabbed each of their baby shoes, it would have been something.”

She continued, “So many have lost everything, including pets. And it’s far from over. Three active fires are raging around us, and there is not enough water to control the situation. Planes are grounded because of the wind.

“I’m not sure what our next step is. Right now I’m just heavy and tired. We are beyond grateful to the heroes of @losangelesfiredepartment for everything they do during these times.
