Anthea Turner has revealed she has been suffering from a secret injury for years after an accident on the set of Blue Peter in 1992, she told fans on Thursday.

The 64-year-old TV presenter, who was the children’s favorite from 1992 to 1994, has since received regular acupuncture to ease the pain.

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted into certain places in the body for therapeutic or preventive purposes.

During a live show, Anthea revealed she hurt her neck while ‘flying over a vault’ and has been suffering from the pain ever since.

While she raved about her doctor, who has helped her with the injury over the years, she wrote, “This is me and one of my favorite people in the world, acupuncturist Dr. Simon Cheung. He never posted anything on his insta so I’m not even going to bother. [laughing emoji]

‘Simon has been putting pins in me since 1992 when, during a live show on Blue Peter, I threw myself into a gym team item and hurt my neck flying over a vault (no one knew).

‘I suffered for a week and nothing helped, then the universe put Simon in my path and after 1 session of ‘pins’ I was pain-free.

‘In the second photo we see in Harpers & Queen Magazine around 1997 looking a lot younger than now. His hair and my sharp chin – WOW!!

‘Simon has pulled me through ever since; Endometriosis, stress, a broken ACL, broken kneecap, broken ankle, broken 5th metatarsal, IVF, divorce stress, general stress, menopause, more stress, honestly, the list goes on!

‘Right now it’s helping with my blepharitis, it’s multifactorial, but in my case it’s largely to do with underperforming meibomian glands.

‘Simon here is creating the best environment for the little buggers to function and something is definitely working.

‘The success of acupuncture, like many things in life, depends on who is performing the procedure.

‘Before training as a Chinese doctor, Simon trained as a microbiologist and virologist at the University of Liverpool.

‘He subsequently worked as a research assistant with the medical research team at the Richard Dimbleby Cancer Research Department at St Thomas’s Hospital and subsequently obtained his Master of Science degree in radiotherapy and cancer research.

‘Now he is part of a talented group led by Dr Tim Evans & Associates, based in Chelsea, where I see him for a specific problem such as now, or simply for maintenance.

‘Best of all, though, our chats are wicked, funny and intuitive, but both always partly laughable, even when I’ve been at my lowest. Thanks Simon ‘

During her time hosting Blue Peter, Anthea delivered a now iconic design, recreating the famous Thunderbirds Tracy Island, considered one of the most difficult crafts in the show’s history.

Blue Peter was first launched in 1958 and is the world’s longest-running children’s television series.

In its heyday, the show had eight million viewers per episode, but now only 37,700 people tune in each week.
