Rams issue statement on NFL Wild Card clash against the Minnesota Vikings amid Los Angeles wildfires

The Rams have revealed that their Wild Card playoff game against the Vikings will still go on as planned, even as wildfires rage through Los Angeles.

But the team confirmed that the NFL has contingency plans in place should the game have to be moved from SoFi Stadium.

At least five wildfires continued to rage in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon — the largest two covering 27,000 acres — as firefighters struggle to contain the blazes.

Five people have lost their lives in the unfolding disaster – with 130,000 local residents ordered to evacuate and 30 square kilometers of territory destroyed.

The NFL playoffs are just a few days away, with the Rams set to host the Vikings in the first round.

“The safety of the LA community is our top priority. As of now, our Wild Card Playoff game is still scheduled to be played Monday evening at SoFi Stadium,” a Rams statement read.

“As with all games, the NFL has contingency plans in place in the event a venue change is necessary.”
