Childcare centre in NSW is shut down after toddlers allegedly ‘ate food scraps off the floor’ and were left unsupervised

A childcare center has been closed after disturbing allegations that babies ate bits of the floor and were injured while left unattended.

Angel’s Paradise in Wagga Wagga, southern NSW, was closed in September after education officials ruled the center posed an ‘imminent risk’ to children.

CCTV footage from the childcare facility revealed a number of health and safety breaches, according to a NSW Civil and Administrative decision.

The Ministry of Education claimed that CCTV footage from the childcare center showed an unattended child climbing onto a cupboard and falling off.

The child is said to have spent the rest of the day crying or sleeping until they were picked up by their parents who sought medical attention.

The department also alleged that Angel’s Paradise had a “general lack of hygiene,” that children were allowed to eat leftover food off the floor and that staff members were on their phones when they were supposed to supervise the children.

It was also claimed that at least one member of staff had not completed a Working with Children check or early childhood education training.

On Monday, the tribunal confirmed the company’s six-month ban, saying “far too many serious alleged breaches” had been committed.

“The unacceptable risk to the health, welfare and safety of the child is best protected by refusing to stay,” the tribunal said.

The owner plans to dispute the finding.

When Daily Mail Australia called the daycare on Wednesday and asked to speak to the owner, a woman replied: “Are you for real?” and hung up the phone.

Angel’s Paradise also has centers in Hinchinbrook and Revesby in western Sydney.

There have been no allegations of misconduct at the other centers.

The company’s website says it targets babies, toddlers and preschoolers and provides a “safe, nurturing, supportive, stimulating and fun environment.”
