Los Angeles Kings versus Calgary Flames game postponed due to wildfires

The NHL game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames, scheduled for Wednesday evening, has been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires in California.

This is the first sporting event to be affected by the wildfires, with the Los Angeles Lakers still set to host the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday evening.

The Kings announced the postponement shortly before 3 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday afternoon, about eight hours before the puck dropped.

“Our hearts are with our entire Los Angeles community. We appreciate the hardworking First Responders who are working diligently to contain the fire and protect our community.”

“We appreciate the League’s support in keeping our fans, staff and players safe.”

“For those who have tickets for tonight’s game, please keep your tickets. You don’t have to do anything. The tickets remain valid for the rescheduled date. More information and ticket options will be communicated immediately once the game date and time are confirmed.”

The NHL also released a statement announcing the postponement and did not confirm a make-up date for the Western Conference clash.

The game against the Flames will be the Kings’ last game at the Crypto.com Arena until January 20. Los Angeles now has five straight games on the schedule, starting Friday at the Winnipeg Jets.
